Lorraine and Keith No problems with posting through the list, as it may help other SCHMIDT researchers too. All email to casmith@iprimus.com.au has been bouncing as the mailbox is reported to be 'over the limit'. Obviously, Paul and Rhonda have not had a chance to read their emails lately. Thanks for your replies. Dear Paul and Rhondda, I was reading your email and recognized the name SCHMIDT. I am no relation, but I have been indexing local cemeteries in the Logan district. I realize that you may already know this, or that these people are no relation to you, but I thought I would reply anyway. There are quite a few SCHMIDT's buried in the Bethel Cemetery. This cemetery is part of the Bethania Lutheran Parish. The details are as follows. SCHMIDT, Child of F. Schmidt SCHMIDT, Child of F. Schmidt SCHMIDT, Frederite born 12 Aug 1824 died 12 Sep 1909 SCHMIDT, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm born 7 Oct 1886 died 18 July 1905 SCHMIDT, Friedericka Ernestine born 15 Feb 1888 died 24 May 1905 SCHMIDT, Auguste Maria Bertha born 27 Apr 1885 died 5 Jan 1901 SCHMIDT, Carl born 6 Sep 1824 died 12 Oct 1920 SCHMIDT, Ferdinand Frederich died 23 May 1947 age 91 y Spouse of Friedericke Wilhelmine Albertine. SCHMIDT, Friedericke Wilhelmine Albertine died 21 Sep 1953 age 87 y Spouse of Ferdinand Frederich. I hope this may be of some help. My great-grandfather and his family arrived that year and settled in the Beenleigh-Yatala-Mt Stapylton area. He was John Ward Quinn from Tullamore, King's County (Offaly) married to Eliza (Colgan) from Clommore, Kings County (Offaly). Their children were William, Michael Joseph, Mary, Lawrence, Thomas, Elizabeth Agnes and John Albert. The last two were born in Australia. Eliza's parents were Michael Colgan and Mary Fitzgerald. Maria Colgan (sister of Eliza) and William Colgan (brother??? still looking)were also passengers. Another sister Bridget Colgan was married to a John Byrne (also passengers??) and settled in the same area? John Albert Quinn (my grandfather) married Clara Louise Humburg the daughter of Carl Henrich Humburg and Caroline Wilhelmine Fredrika Schmidt. Carl was born in Mayen, Prussia and Caroline in Gunterberg, Germany. There is a Quinn's Hill at Yatala and there was a slaughter yard in the same area which I believe was at one time owned by the Quinn family (John Ward Quinn was a butcher). We are still in the process of confirming this information. I believe the slaughter yard was sold to a the Christensen family. Hope this is of interest. Any information shared just makes it all a lot easier.
