    3. Hello to all of the German/Irish decendants originating from South East Queensland! When we look at the old maps, and the names thereon, we see IRISH AND GERMAN/PRUSSIAN with a few DANES and other SCANDINAVIANs thrown in for good luck. In fact, I don't think I recognise any other nationality at that point in time. All of the long standing Listers know I am working on the SEQ Germans (David's maternal side, in particular the GIESEMANNs and HANSENs +++++) but I don't think you know that his paternal side HARRISON/WILLIS from Co Armagh and KERLIN/BELL from Co Down were in Beaudesert. In fact the original Harrison home "Broomfield" is still standing and occupied by a descendant! Grandfather William John and his twin brother Moses, and another brother James (KERLIN) and their families spent the early 1900s in Laidley and Ipswich and that is how Mum KERLIN (Hansen/Giesemann) met Leslie Oswald KERLIN. (Or there wouldn't be a David!) A GIESEMANN from Laidley married a lady HARRISON from Beaudesert too! Aunty Katie (Giesemann) married Jens FREDERIKSEN from Gdansk and they had property at Tamborine and Glen Eagles. The FLANAGANs (Co Offaly) were also in both areas. So apart from the Lockyer Valley people, we are having to move further afield in our family research. I have joined the AUST-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com List (don't forget to put the '-request' after the L to subscribe) in an effort to cover this gap. I can't help wondering how many SEQ folk aren't subscribing to both Lists?! I am forward a copy of this mail to Ireland Lists. There could well be a way we can all get our heads together. BTW I am only about one eighth Irish, if that, so don't pick on me. I am English - well, in a way or seven! Cheers Bev kerlindavidbev@ozemail.com.au Researching: KERLIN/BELL Co Down, HARRISON/WILLIS Co Armagh (Ireland] BARKER/YOUNG or YOUNGs Norfolk, BARNETT/CANTLE Gloucester, COURTNEY/DALTON Camberwell [England] GIESEMANN/TIMM [Prussia], HANSEN/HENDRIKSEN etc [Denmark]
