    3. Hi all, In 1936 my great Grandfather's brother, Albert Dionysius, had to fill out a German Form concerning his parents and his grandparents, who they were and stating if their was any Jewish background. He was living in West Pomerania on Is. Ruegen in the Baltic Sea. Both he and his brother had served in the German navy in early 1880's. As far as I know, they found no Jewish ancestory. I have a copy of the document so signed by him, warning him that there would be serious consequences if the form was incorrectly filled out. Les Moreland of Kenilworth was amazed to see this document - proof of Hitler's intension to seek out Jewish and "impure" ancestory. 3. It was known as an Ahnenpass. I understand they were required mainly for people in or wanting to be in public office or the armed forces although they may have been more widespread. A lot were destroyed at the end of the war, unfortunate for family historians.
