Hello all and particularly to those who are showing an interest in this subject - Phillip for one! Please let me be very clear on this subject. I DO NOT WANT SEQ GERMANS AND AUS-IRISH TO AMALGAMATE NOR DISAPPEAR - I WOULD DIE !!!!!!!! I have merely suggested that if we have Irish and German folk intertwined, why not send a copy of our mail to the other side, e.g. the GIESEMANN gentleman who belongs on SEQ Germans who married the HARRISON lady who belongs on AUS-IRISH. I am very interested in the German settlement around Bethania and the Logan. This is another example of where the industrious Germans and Irish worked side by side, exactly as they did in the Laidley areas. We seldom discuss Bethania and Logan, and Russell Greig will correct me if I'm wrong (pleeeease Russell?). My predicament is that all of these people are David's families - the Germans etc around the Lockyer Valley and the Irish in Beaudesert. I have a leg in both camps, so to speak. Hey out there! Anyone know any CANTLEs around Wynnum from Gloucester, or YOUNGSs around Sherwood from Norfolk, or COURTNEYs in Clayfield and DALTONs from Camberwell and Bucks? Oh well - I tried! Cheers Bev K.

I am still hoping for my Christmas list to be a "real go" in my genealogy. As far as the Germans and Irish lists becoming amalgamated - I think that they can peacefully co-exist. Each list serves a particular population and its needs. However, I do think that the suggestion that there be cross posting would be somewhat helpful to some people on both lists and I have no objection to cross posting - if the person doing so feels that it would be beneficial to either list. Either way, I am happy with the way the list is going...... and if anyone in Queensland can prod the Qld. Govt. along to put the BDM on CD I would count myself as being one of the happiest persons on this earth............ It would be even better if they would put them on the net like New South Wales has done.................. well, add this to my Christmas list too........ cheers, Beverly.
