    3. Hello Lorraine Lovely to hear from you again - thank you for your trouble! This is a B-R-O-A-D enquiry. I am trying to piece together the Irish families who were involved in the settlement of the Logan and Albert Rivers, in truth - anything from Mt Gravatt to Tamborine! Of course, we have the intermingling of our Germans too, and the Swiss - just as we have noted in the Lockyer Valley. From what I have read in a manuscript sent to me by a friend in NZ, there were some 22 families who settled south of Brisbane and who arrived on the Erin-go-bragh. I believe most of these originated in Co Offaly/Kings and in particular around Rahan and Tullamore and their arrival was the result of fervent encouragement by two RC Men of the Cloth, Quinn and Dunne. You have asked me for names Lorraine and I reply "All of Them" because I don't know where this will lead me BUT here are a few: Anthony FLANAGAN and Ann ROSNEY (the latter will not be listed as Rosney - she was his wife) and their children, James RYAN, wife and family (7), William DRYNAN, QUINN, WALSH, WARD, GRAHAM, MARTIN, CALINAN, CORCORAN, Patrick CUSACK, wife and 3 children, etc. etc. Most brought large families. Also Thomas PLUNKETT and Michael YORE who arrived by the "Fiery Star" are of interest. There are others from "Prince Consort" and so on. A number of these are ancestors of Carmel KERLIN (nee KENT) wife of first cousin Trevor KERLIN - more Queenslanders! You can see that, at this stage, I am moving in a "circular" motion - in other words, I'm going round in circles getting no where very fast. ANY HELP would be great! George HARRISON, Great Grandfather, was noted as working (and sporting) with almost all of these people in one way or another. This raises another question - this time about religion. He was a Protestant from County Armagh and he mingled with Roman Catholics from Co Offaly. Religion is not a subject that concerns me too much, but the German Lutherans mingled freely also. It's interesting. Oops, I've slipped off the subject, sorry! I will be very happy and grateful for anything you care to send. Many thanks. Bev (don't mess up that filing drawer/cabinet Lorraine - you'll never find anything again!!) 3. There was a book published about 15-20 years ago on this ship and voyage to Au. with the story of settlement. I cant remember the name of it, but I will be seeing my aunt this weekend in Brisbane (85yo) as she still has the Byrne family wooden chest that held all their possessions for the trip. The book I speak of had gone to the printers, and a photo of the chest and its story was slipped in as an extra loose page. The family settled around Boonah. I think it was just called the Erin go Bragh, a story of settlement. But I will definately find out for you if you want. I think I have a copy too, but cant lay my hand on it at the moment.
