Hi All I keep weaving my basket and now it's absolutely chock-a-block with IRISH/GERMAN people! Those of you on both Lists will get it twice, sorry. A change of pace do you say?? How do you think I feel when all of those you-beaut bits of stuff about the GEISSMANNs kept flowing in a couple of years back, and I kept saying "GIESEMANN NOT GEISSMANN"? So then, I have Mary Jane KERLIN, second daughter of James KERLIN and Mary Jane BELL, and sister to Grandfather William John (yikes!), marrying Gustav Theodor Emanuel REINHOLD and one of his sisters BERTHA married Carl Wilhelm GEISSMANN and one of their children was Bernard Reinhold GEISSMANN who was a VIP around where the HARRISONs were - near Beaudesert! Let this be a lesson to all - if you receive a fax of 17 pages, don't 'save it for later' and then try to record it a couple of years later. That printing has a bad habit of fading, and eyeballs end up on sticks!! I also have photocopies of several draft pages of an unprinted book written about that area by John F Stevens and Alex Harrison (our and hundreds of others' Harrisons) in February 1962. There are brief mentions of many of the families on these pages - Cameron, Barnett, Geissmann, Tucker, Siganto, Holme, Henderson, Kidd, Jenyns, Muir, Colvin, Beetham, Morgan, Smith, Wilson, Hinchcliffe, Drynan, Duncan, Shaw, Ryan, Kirks, Carter, Washington, Gill, Irving, Seymour, Pownall (Annie Pownall married Alex Harrison and the Kidds also married into the Harrison family). There are more and most are only given a couple of words up to maybe a sentence or two. I find this part interesting "The first settlers were avout twenty Irish families, most upon the river round what is now Waterford. These were the folk who arrived on the Irish migration ships, "Erin-go-brach" (sic), "Prince Consort", "City of Brisbane", and others, and who later on, moved to the rich vine scrub lands of the Logan and Albert rivers. The sawmiller, John Ryan, was one who arrived with his wife on "Prince Consort", a fellow passenger with William Walsh. Their place at Waterford was taken by about twenty German families, ex "Susannah Godefrey" (sic) in 1864." Maybe I can help somebody with a 'little bit of flesh' for their skeletons, but it won't be too much.
