Dear Chris There may be a connection with the following Schulz/Marquardt family: A Schulz family lived near Boonah. They emigrated from Germany c. 1881 but the mother died on the ship. The parents were Carl and Fredericke (nee Guse) Schulz, with teenage children Paul, Herman, August, Clara, Emma, Bertha, and Helene. They were born in the town of Bublitz in Germany. Father Carl died at Dugandan in 1897 and was buried at Hoya (Teviotville). They were very committed memebers of the Teviotville (Hoya) Evangelical Lutheran Church and married members of this church from Headington Hill. Louise Marquardt came out from Bublitz Germany and married Herman Schulz in 1911 at Boonah, ie 20 years after her husband emigrated. They lived at Fassifern Valley near Boonah and had 6 children, Alice (who later married Riney Renz), Augustus (Alf), Martin, Erna Clara, Bernard and Verner Eric (Billy Bode). Herman died in 1926 and his wife Louise died in 1927, leaving the children orphans. There are no descendants of this family. Emma Schulz did not marry and remained around Boonah all her life. August Schulz married Alma Stehn but she died within a few months. He married Millie Nielsen in 1916 in Toowoomba. They had six children. August was a builder and initially the couple lived in Toowoomba before moving to Clifton. August died in 1939 in Toowoomba. Clara Schulz married Dick Weber and lived on the Downs. Her two daughters married a father and son. Bertha Schulz married Heinrich Liekefett 1885 and had 8 children around Boonah, including Martha who married Ted Stehn and Johanna who married Otto Stehn. They were brothers of Alma Stehn who married August Schulz the uncle of Martha and Johanna, ie the Stehn brothers married their late sister's neices. Helene Schulz married Hermann Liekefett in 1895 and also had 9 children. They lived at Barney View, Palen Ck and Fassifern. Paul married and had children. There was a triple wedding in the family. It took place on 31 January 1911, involving Herman Schulz and Louise nee Marquardt, Ted Stehn and Martha nee Liekefett (neice of Herman and Clara) Adolph Dick Weber and Clara nee Schulz. Herman and Clara Schulz were brother and sister, while Ted Stehn's sister Alma married Augustus Schulz, their brother. Ted Stehn was the conductor of the Teviotville Lutheran Church choir, and his brother William went to theological college in Adelaide with Pastor Bode the Pastor of the Teviotville Lutheran Church. Hope this helps. There may be a connection between this SCHULTZ family and my KAPERNICK family through Harry's sister Alice who according to Di married Hermann MARQUARDT. Wondering if anyone has any further information? Here's what I have at the moment: Clarence MARQUARDT m.Joyce KAPERNICK Father:Walter Albert KAPERNICK Mother:Henriette Leah OSBORNE I have four children and quite a few grandchildren for this couple but I do not have dates for all of them. Also: I have a descendant of Heinrich Ernest MARQUARDT and Ellen FRANKLIN marrying a KAPERNICK but they are still living. Anyone who knows of the SCHULZ-MARQUARDT descendants no of any connection?
