    3. Noel and Del, My grandfather, Gustav Kopittke, together with his sister Augusta Kopittke (later married Johann Friedrich Eggert Meier) and parents Daniel and Charlotte Kopittke emigrated indirectly, arriving in Brisbane 27 March 1876 aboard the "Western Monarch". My father recalled his father telling him that the English trains did not run as smoothly as the German trains and that they'd all been afraid that the English train would fall apart. I have not yet looked seriously for their voyage from Germany to England. That might have to wait till I retire! 3. My gg grandparents also arrived from London. They went to NSW (Morpeth) in 1849 on the Parland. There were a number of German families who travelled on that ship to work in the NSW vineyards. You can see them at: http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Workshop/2299/parland1849.html Anne .... > We were surprised to read that one of the families, the Windolf family > emigrated on the ship Gauntlet which arrived in Moreton Bay on the > 20th February 1878 and that the family came Indirect.
