Lorrae, thanks very much for passing Kath's e-mail on .... Kath, Wilhelm died in Toowoomba, Q in 1919. As far as I know, he wasn't interned during WWI. He was, however, Naturalised in September 1915. It is interesting that his Naturalisation papers note: " ... it has been ascertained that ….. He is well known at Maryland Station, New South Wales, over the border from Stanthorpe, where he lived for 54 years. He bears a good character and is not connected with other Germans. He can produce no documentary evidence as to his age. The Police Officer making the inquiries is of the opinion that he is a fit person to become a naturalized subject.” I find it amusing that it's stated that he was 'not connected with other Germans'. For starters, his sister, Charlotte, was still living and two of his half-sisters, Louisa and Mary, were married to German-born men, Michael and Christie BEZOLD.
