Apart from being a very good cook she was an avid card player and enjoyed playing Canaster and Cribbage as well as Indoor Bowles. Edith also enjoyed doing Bark Art which she was very good at. After the sudden death of her husband Reg in 1990, Edith moved from Harlaxton to a retirement village until she suffered a stroke in 1995 which left her unable to care for herself and she moved into Salem Lutheran Nursing Home in Toowoomba. In 2005 Edith had a fall and broke her hip which left her almost bedridden for the remainder of her life, she also suffered from Dementure in the last few years of her life. Edith lived a full and long life and she will be lovingly remembered by her children grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hi Michelle Its Chris Schmidt, here. We have emailed about KAPERNICK and SURAWSKI and BREITKREUZ connections. I am sorry to hear about the death of your grandmother. I may have even seen her at Salem- my grandmother Agnes Margaret KAPERNICK nee KOCH died there last November. Bye the way, my mum was speaking to Mavis SURAWSKI nee SCANLAN on the phone a few weeks before my grandmother died. We haven't had any contact since Jo died- my grandmother and I were at his funeral- but she didn't really appear to be interested in having contact or hearing how anyone was doing. My grandmother cared for her eldest son Edward SURAWSKI when he was young, until about 18 months I believe. Jo SURAWSKI was not his natural father but adopted him. My grandparents were formally going to adopt him but then Jo came on the scene and was wiilling to take care of him and marry Mavis, so my grandparents adoption didn't go ahead. Anyway, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
