I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the many, many QLD and Northern NSW listers on the mailing list that may be experiencing severe flooding. I can only gauge the scene by watching the nightly news but to those who are living this terrible experience I hope that you will recover and that you have many friends and family for support. I know that you may not get this message for some time as I imagine internet services are stretched or even non existent. I am sure that I speak on behalf of many members that are safe and sound now......... WE ARE THINKING OF YOU!! Regards, Kerry Wall
Thanks for your thoughts Kerry... This is a reply I sent to a WA mailing list. ## Hi everyone in WA who have contacted me asking about my welfare during the flooding in my home town of Bundaberg., Apart from having to have my roof tarped on Christmas eve, by those wonderful and tireless SES workers who worked tirelessly all over the Christmas holidays.sandbagging buildings etc, and have even left their own inundated homes to help evacuate residents I have only inconvenience to deal with. I live on the high southern side of the town . All the feeder streets to the CBD are inundated and closed to traffic. One of our major Shopping Centres is underwater.. This means we need to travel several Klms out of way to get to a street that is open and then double back to town, to get such things as longlife milk, drinking water in case the town water is contaminated, etc.. The town is split in two ~~North and East Bundaberg are cut off from the rest of the town, The town's 3 bridges are closed to traffic and houses on the north and east are inundated and evacuated. to the two Evacuation centres (one centre on the southside of the river, the other on the north side of the river)Bundaberg is cut off from the rest of the state by road and rail. Traffic on the streets is bumper to bumper because there are so few streets open to traffic, and most traffic is sightseers taking piccies. For a good idea of what is happening locally here are some photos taken by locals It wouldn't hurt to refresh the screen each time you check it out, because the photos just keep coming . http://tinyurl.com/39armtb Cheers Gay >I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the many, many QLD and >Northern NSW listers on the mailing list that may be experiencing severe >flooding.
