    3. The older graves seem to be in Bethel and the later ones in St Marks, so I'd be inclined to think Bethel for the 1920s. Everthing points to them being Lutheran so that makes Lowood General less likely. Pastor LudwigDoehler at burial Hi All I have two death certificates for husband and wife Johann Carl and Louise Clara DREWS. Johann's certificate says he was buried 25 Nov 1926 in "Lowood Lutheran Cemetery" with L Doehler as Lutheran minister. Louise's certificate says she was buried 8 September 1929 in "Lowood" with H Wallat as Lutheran minister. Ludwig Doehler was the informant. I don't believe there are headstones for either. Can anyone suggest which Lutheran Cemetery - Bethel or St Marks Johann would be buried in; and if Louise would have been buried in either of those or at Lowood General Cemetery? 3. Hi St Mark's and Bethel were from two different synods. St Mark's was E.L.C.A which only began its work in the area in the 1920s at Fairney View and Lake Clarendon. There was a small gathering of local E.L.C.A members in Lowood that met in a house towards the end of WW1. This later combined with Lake Clarendon and moved to Lowood. One of the early pastors was Pastor L. Mirtschin who arrived in the 1930s. Probably could find the exact dates. Pastor Wallet and Doehler took services at Bethel and were assocated with the UELCA so Bethel is likely to be the one. The two synods combined in 1966. The UELCA itself was a union of several synods, including the Immanuel Synod, the German and Scandinavian Synod of Qld (Pastor Wallet and Doehler's synod) and others that happened in the 1920s. My South Australian ancestors were involved with the E.L.C.A, as were some of the Beutels, and Kapernicks. Some where everything else under the sun! 3. Thanks, Chris, for the explanation of St Marks and Bethel. It helps to have the background.
