Hello Lyn and Anna, Yes the Devantier families in Australia are descendant from Huguenots. I have been seeking information on Huguenot families over the past two years especially descendants of those families who fled from France to Denmark and Germany. Kay Gassan and Torben Devantie have responded in the past, thank you both for your assistance. Sources http://devantie.net/, Kopittke, Emigrants from Hamburg to Australia, Qld. BDMs & Qld. State Archives. The details I have found or received so far may help Lyn & Anna, however I feel that some information already posted on this list may contain spelling errors, not hard to do. Have received information from a Polish researcher that may save some effort on the part of others following the same trail. The researcher informed me that records were lost in WWII for the following Prussian villages: * Mothalen * Alt Christburg * Knakendorf * Behle. However the story is different for the village of Gross Teschendorf. The researcher wrote, 'Its respective Lutheran parish is Gross Rohdau (now Rodowo in Poland). The records are kept in Berlin and were microfilmed by the Mormons. You can order the microfilms which are listed here: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=94368&disp=Kirchenbuch++ ' Hope this is of use to someone, Lyn. lynpaul2@bigpond.com
Thanks, Lyn, it confirms what other local researchers have told me about Alt Christburg.
