Lorrae. Thanks for your query. The death certificate was informed by her son Wm. H. Brown, Boonah. Fredericke was born in Bagemuhl Germany to Dorothea MOHNS as per my last email to the site, approx 4 years before her mother married Christian F. W. Muller. She came (obvious pregnant) on the ship "Waroonga" arriving 8 January 1884, to Queensland under the name MULLER, but on 13 June 1884 she gave birth at Minden to my husband's grandfather Hermann, under the name MOHNS. I have this birth certificate. 1884/C6252 Hermann Mohns Friederike Mohns This is taken from the Qld Historical Records site. However, Hermann was always known as MULLER. What a mixup!!!. Fredericke obviously changed her name to Muller for convenience at times, but I cannot find where it was legally changed.. Perhaps she never told her children of the facts. I am only going on what information I have obtained by Qld certificates over the years, and direct information from Germany. I did make a mistake in my email to Kerry Wall, Fredericke was my husbands great-grandmother, not grandmother. Hope this sorts out the confusion. Jean Harm
Hi Jean Herman is my Great Grandfather as well. The "Waroonga" sailed from Hamburg on 26 June 1883 and then went to Portsmouth from where it sailed on 22 November, 1883 and arrived in Cooktown 8 January, 1884. Herman would have been conceived about September 1883, so this would have been either on board ship or during the stopover at Portsmouth. Pretty sure I read a newspaper article on Trove which indicated they were in Portsmouth for some time. I thought I saved it but cannot find at the moment. Herman was also known as Harry MILLER Kerry Muller -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-se-germans-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-se-germans-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Bob & Jean Harm Sent: Monday, 27 September 2010 5:53 AM To: aus-qld-se-germans@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SEQ-Germans] Lookup Pleeeeaaaassse Lorrae.
