Thank you Jo. Thank you all. So that's that then. No cigar. Fascinating none the less. 'My' Abel came as noted, from Götzberg which is the next door village to Kisdorf, both at the time satellite villages of Kaltenkirchen. Both at the time with populations of less than 200 people. Those of you with Bundaberg roots may be interested to learn that, like 'Bundy' folk, the people of Kaltenkirchen shorten their town's name to 'Kalki', or as my g-grandfather, Reinke Grotherr, named his selection in 1871, "Kalkie". The name continued on to the sugar mill and plantation and now days the suburb. At least it was obscure enough to escape the censors in WW1. His sister Abel has disappeared after arrival, although she was shown as still living on her mother's death cert in 1897. Take care, and thanks David ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jo and Stephen" <jsbrennan@ozemail.com.au> To: <aus-qld-se-germans@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 28, 2011 2:25 PM Subject: Re: [SEQ-Germans] Abel KUMMERFELD > Hi David, > > Further to the information Jennifer has supplied - the death you are > enquiring about is recorded on Ancestry as:- > > Name: Abel Kummerfeld > Death Date: 29 May 1917 > Death Place: Queensland > Father's Name: Hans Heinrich Lohse > Mother's Name: Jensen > Registration Place: Queensland > Registration Number: 002008 > Page Number: 1114 > > > > This Biggenden, Qld family arrived on unassisted passage into NSW 12 > January 1894 per "Erlangen".
