Hi List members I know I have asked this a long time ago, but in case we have more sources now - I know their arrival - I checked the immigration records at the State Archives KADDATZ August 38 Reichstag 1 Aug 1872 IMM/114 234 Z1958 M1697 KADDATZ Auguste 41 Reichstag 1 Aug 1872 IMM/114 234 Z1958 M1697 KADDATZ Eduard 8 Reichstag 1 Aug 1872 IMM/114 234 Z1958 M1697 KADDATZ Gustav 12 Reichstag 1 Aug 1872 IMM/114 234 Z1958 M1697 I have not had time to look at these files. Would they show who they worked for? We are of the understanding that they went to Roma before settling in Mackay. They are recorded as being in Mackay in 1884 (thanks to newspapers on line - http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper ) How do I prove they went to Roma? What records am I looking for? Were they shepherds or labourers for 2 years in Roma? Any help on the 1872-1884 period would be gratefully appreciated. Lorrae August is on the Electoral Roll for Maranoa at Blythedale 1876 1877 1878 In 1879 he is at North Mackay. It may be also worth checking out School records for the children in the Roma district. Roma Historical Soc I have found to be very helpful in the past.Also try Toowoomba and Darling Downs family History Soc. Blythedale is between Wallumbilla and Roma..about 10 miles from Roma. August KADDATZ appears in the "Queensland Government Gazette" 1875 at Blythdale, Roma as having the registered stock brand 'KA7' (Certificate No. 9306). He hadn't had a previous registered brand for either cattle or horses.
