    3. Dear Janice, Sorry, I was pre-occupied when you were in the T&DDFHS research centre the other week. I have found mention of Carl Anger in a book which some of the list may have, titled The German Presence in Queensland, Manfred Jurgensen and Alan Corkhill, eds, Dept of German, University of Qld, 1988, ISBN 0 86776 2527 (paperback) or 0 86776 246X (hardback). Page 161 says "The scope of this work for two ministers was clearly impossible and calls went out for more ministers. The Gossner society, now without Gossner who had passed away, made available a Mr. Carl August Anger, who was ordained by Schirmeister and who took over St Paul's Lutheran congregation in Toowoomba. Pastor Anger was a sad disappointment to all, and his dismissal caused a split with the St Paul's congregation and resulted in a second Lutheran congregation, called the "Independent German Church", in Toowoomba." This is footnoted to Theile, p. 10. which the bibliography shows as F. O. Theile, One Hundred Years of the Lutheran Church in Queensland, Adelaide, 1985 (Reprint). I am not sure how easy it would be to borrow a copy of the last mentioned book. Cheers Marionne
