Jim, I have received a number of emails from you and they all have the attachment sign on them and blank messages. It was a similar message that I opened over a week ago (from someone else) that gave me the virus on my computer. I am not saying that you have a virus on your computer but I am leery of opening anything that has the little paper clip in the top right hand corner denoting that there is an attachment. I have stopped opening attachments in fear of getting infected with a virus again. I do not know what it is you wished to write to me about, but after the terrible experience I have just had with a virus I no longer wish to take chances. This email today was addressed as "Markham, Pelling, Tranby". For safety's sake, how about you write to the list and hopefully the rootsweb system will remove or block the virus (although they did not do such a good job this past week or so). Sorry about this mess and I do not know who caused it. cheers, Beverly. Life on Earth is Expensive, but at least you get a free trip around the sun....... So wear a hat and enjoy the ride!
Hi Beverley and Listers: You will note that my email address has "growzone" as the ISP. They advertise that they strip every apparent virus fromany email passing through their system and cannot spread a virus. My computer has not been hit with a virus for over four years and I only use Netscape (not Outlook Express). It is most unlikely that a virus would get to your machine from my machine...........secondly the spelling of my surname in the message should be a dead giveaway.......to those people whom I'm in contact with directly, you would have the spelling correct. Somebody has created a message, using my name (spelt incorrectly) and accessed Bev's address book and spred the virus....not I...................thirdly, it cannot pass through Rootsweb as they too strip all attachments.
