    3. Hi all .. I am wondering if someone could help me please ? I have been hunting for the death of my GG grandfather from SEQ.. His name was Carl Franz Herman Zeller born about 1830 in Magdeburg Germany/Prussia. Arrival on the Susanne Goddefroy Jan 1864 (as Hermann ZELLE)... He married Wilhelmine Koenke (or Kohnke) ... 1869/C317 Zelle Herrmann Koenke Wilhelmina .. After that I have the children's births up to 1881... (ALL Zellers) Their son William Herman died in 1879.. and no more information on Carl (or Hermann) .. he died sometime between 1880 and 1898... As his wife Wilhelmine Zelle/r remarried in 1898 to Edwin WEBBER in Warwick.. and she was pronounced 'widow' .... I cannot find ANY information on Carl's death .. I am wondering if there might have been some information on Wilhelmine's marriage cert ? Or would she have had to 'prove' she was a widow ? Hope someone can help me .. this has been a very hard search. regards, Maree Larsen Hobart

    3. Thank you, Gay. I'm not sure the "Caesar Godeffroy" ex. Hamburg 1856 is one Jenny Paterson has planned for the future, but I can say with certainty that I won't be looking at the "Caesar Godeffroy". (My next ship will be the "Pauline" ex. Bremen to Moreton Bay via Sydney 1856/57.) The series "German Immigrant Ships to Eastern Australia - Resources and Problems" deals with the ships that brought government-assisted German families (vinedressers) to NSW from 1849 to 1856, while the series "German ships with no ship lists" deals with those vessels departing Bremen which had self-funded or privately contracted immigrants aboard. The "Caesar Godeffroy", unfortunately, falls outside these parameters, Gay. Jenny does, however, intend to write an article re the "Johann Caesar" 1856 Hamburg to Moreton Bay. 3. Dear List Members For those of you who have followed the progress of my research regarding the German immigrant ship "Diana" over the past couple of years and, in many instances, kindly assisted with my queries, please be advised that an article I have written re. this ship/her passengers appeared in the November issue of "Ances-tree"; the quarterly journal of the Burwood & District Family History Group. (The "Diana" sailed from Bremen in late November 1857 and arrived in Moreton Bay ie. present-day Brisbane in May 1858.) The article is 24 pages in length inc. endnotes, etc. and is part of a series: "German ships with no ship lists". To date there are two other articles in the series: By Jenny Paterson Part 1: "Fanny Kirchner" and "Wilhelm Kirchner" from Bremen to Sydney 1858, in: vol.19 no.2 Jul 2006. By Lisa Burton: Part 2: "Solon" from Bremen to Moreton Bay 1859, in vol.21 no.2 Jul 2008. Copies of the journals can be had for $5.00 each, inc. postage. Please make cheque payable to 'Burwood & District Family History Group' and post, along with covering letter, to: The Secretary Burwood & District Family History Group c/- Burwood Library 4 Marmaduke Street BURWOOD NSW 2134 (I apologize for the cross-postings.) 3. My thanks to the hundreds of people who voted in my on-line poll, sent feedback by letter or email, or spoke to me at the Expo, Roadshow and recent seminars. With your help I have made a decision about my future involvement in genealogy. Since I first connected to the Internet in 1997, I have spent hundreds of hours every year helping other family historians (free). I enjoy helping, but now I need to change the way I do it. I want to spend more time with my family and friends, more time doing my own research, and more time learning about modern trends in genealogy. (If you heard my recent talks in Brisbane and Sydney you will know what I mean by 'modern trends'.) I also need to catch up on the backlog of research requests that accumulated while I was a carer for my father. This is what will happen: * My free email 'Updates Newsletter' will be discontinued in its current format (but an alternative will be offered to current subscribers, whom I will contact soon). * My 'Queensland Newsflash' Web page will be discontinued. * In addition to my own Web site, I will publish free research tips and longer 'advice articles' in several other places on the Internet. * I will continue to expand and update my Web site, which currently consists of over 100 pages. It has free information and advice on many topics related to genealogy, and over 51,000 names from my indexes to Archives sources, cemeteries, certificates, books, photographs etc. Thousands more names will be added in the future. Please note that I have begun moving my Web pages to a new site (my own domain name). * Instead of reading mailing lists and offering advice there, I will unsubscribe from lists and just use Google Alerts and Rootsweb's PML to find posts relevant to my own interests. One mailing list administrator has asked me to refrain from putting links to my Web site in my mailing list posts - so I am 'playing it safe' on this list too. If you would like the Web addresses for my main Web site and my other online tips/articles, you will need to email me privately, off-list. Villages in this region and the eastern Uckermark have been raised to make way for open cut coal mines. Kay Gassan To answer my own question, and for the sake of the archives of this list, I have found the place thanks to http://www.kartenmeister.com They listed two places of the name Belfort, and the one in Kreis Bütow is what I was looking for. Belfort, Kreis Bütow, Pommern 53.97, 17.58 There appears no habitation there now so there is no Polish equivalent name for the village. The region is now called Bytow, Pomorskie, Poland Regards, Jennifer http://colston-wenck.com
