I had a look at the Passenger List for the Johan Cesar voyage that arrived 1852 and found - Anton NEDER, aged 22, Vinedresser; Native Place - Werback, Baden; Parents: Michael (dead) and Margaritta (Mother) on Board; Religion - R.C.; Read or Write - Both; Relatives in the Colony - None; State of Bodily Health: Good; Remarks by Immigration: Six pounds Gertraude NEDER, age 24, Wife; Native Place - Hockhauser, Baden; Parents: Andreas and Francisca - both dead; Religion - R.C.; Read or Write - Both; Relatives in the Colony - None; State of Bodily Health - Good; Gertraude NEDER, age 3, Daughter; Native Place - Hockhauser, Baden; Parents: On Board Read or Write - Neither; Relatives in the Colony - None; State of Bodily Health - Good So then I went looking for Margaritta (Mother of Anton) who he stated was on board - the only Margaritta I could find who was of the right age was - Margaretta WOHLFARTH, age 47, Native Place - Werbach, Baden Parents: Andrew and Eva (both dead) Religion - R.C.; Read or Write - both Margaretta is the wife of - John George WOHLFARTH, age 46, Vinedresser Native Place - Herback, Baden Parents: Valentin & Eva (both dead) Religion - R.C. I have an in-law family called Needer. Andrew Joseph Needer, born about 1862, married 1884 Margaret Condon, died Mt Morgan 1929 - his death index gives parents names of Andrew & Catherine Andrew & Margaret adopted a daughter Bridget Catherine Needer, who was born 1885, the illegitimate daughter of Annie Neader (later Annie Abbott). Hi Kevin Thanks for the corrections. I will note them- Wilhelm and Williams get a bit academic. I do appreciate the correction as I do like listing the official birth name, but most of them did anglicise their names. My grandfather's name on his birth certificate was Wilhelm too but it was never used! Always William- it actually caused a couple of problems when he died, as the Public Trustee would not accept that Wilhelm and William were the same person. My gran had to fill in extra forms, and get three stat declarations from people like solicitors, doctors and ministers that new him well. I am not related to the WITTENHAGEN et al, my habit is to go back on the wrong side of my families- the in- law side and make the connections.  I would, however, appreciate anything you have on the KERLIN and NIETHE family, as I am in contact with others- like Ted Itzstein- interested in Wittenhagen connections. Hi list, Has anybody heard of "Dogherty/Dougherty station on Dawson"? I have an ancestor that was born in late 1860's. I believe it to be a sheep or cattle station as her parents moved from station to station across the Darling Downs and around Monto, Biloela down to Gayndah. _____ Martyn

Hi You are right- Johanne Wilhelmina Louise Willmann married Friedrich Wilhelm Jackwitz. Christian's obituary in the Toowoomba Chronicle and Darling Downs Gazette on the 21 Mar 1931 mentions that this Christian Friedrich remarried to a Johanne Willmann ( he was firstly married to Berthe Auguste Helene Muller with whom he had his children), so I thought the one that married the Jackwitz could be the one. However, I had not verified- sorry I really shouldn't have posted it. I have done little work on the BEUTELS for years and have been focusing on the Kapernick family. However, if that one was buried as Jackwitz- which it seems she was- it seems I was incorrect. My guess is that you are correct. That he married the widow Friedrich WILLMAN and that the death registration 1934/C1718 Mary Elizabeth Hannah Beutel - Parents = Fredrick Ruthenberg Christine Burow is actually as her. Correct, Kerry, It's personal belongings apart from land/real estate, bank deposits, stocks/shares, etc. and usually refers to things like jewelry, china, books, furniture, clothing, etc. (Excluding specific bequests eg. leaving an engagement ring to a particular granddaughter, or whatever.)
