Also the ZILLMANN family is of interest. All of these ZILLMANNS- August Hugo GLABBERT- ZILLMANN and his wife and descendants- are descended from the BEUTEL family back in Germany, which is part of my research. Also, three lines of the ZILLMANN family marry into the KAPERNICK family. Any further information on the ZILLMANN-MULLER descendants would be appreciated. Regards Chris

Kind regards Wayne -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-se-germans-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-se-germans-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Chris Schmidt Sent: Monday, 4 April 2011 7:19 AM To: AUS-QLD-SE-Germans@rootsweb.com Subject: [SEQ-Germans] KAPERNICK Family and Connection with Bundaberg District- ZIMITAT, ZILLMANN, MITTELHEUSER, STOLLZNOW, BYRNE Hi I am putting together an article on the relationship of the Kapernick family to the Bundaberg region and its history. I am trying to right an article of general interesting historical fact, woven into the history of the family, and something that would be of interest to anyone interested in local history and not just of the Kapernick family. This is for possible inclusion in local papers if they agree to print it. Several branches of the Kapernick family became associated with the Bundaberg district. Johann Ludwig "Louis" Zimitat b. JUl 1869 Deutsch Krone, Posen, Prussia d. 16 Jul 1921 Walla Crossing, Burnett River, Queensland, Australia married Marie Auguste Hermine "Ann" KAPERNICK b. 31 May 1872 Stendel, Angermuende, Brandenburg, Prussia d. 3 Jun 1933 in Bundaberg. Marie was the daughter of Wilhelm Friedrich Kapernick and Hermine nee SCHMIDT of Tallegalla, Queensland and Johann was the son of Johann Ludwig ZIMITAT and Auguste Albertine WILDE who farmed in the Zillmere area north of Nundah, Brisbane. The Zimitat family eventually purchased large areas of property on the Burnett River in the Walla Crossing/Wallaville area but 45 minutes from Bundaberg by car, becoming one of the largest producers of sugar in the district. Along with the Mittelheuser family (another large producer of sugar), they were instrumental in the establishment of the "Gin Gin Co-Operative Sugar Milling Association Ltd" in about 1896.It was established as a co-operative by the growers, was taken over by Dr Maxwell in 1904, and later passed into government control as part of Government Central Mills. It remained under government control until 1926 when the growers took control again. Other Bundaberg names that the ZIMITAT descendants connect with include REHBEIN, BURGESS, LEHANE, WIELAND, CISLOWSKI, MITTELHEUSER, STOLLZNOW, HARRIS, COONEY, GRAHAM, HATFIELD, BORGHARDT, TODD, BRANDON, BARNES, WEGERT, and MACKELMANN. As a point of interest, one of Johann and Marie nee Kapernick's daughter Gladys Ruth ZIMITAT b. 22 Apr 1897 Bundaberg d. 27 Sept 1959 Gin Gin married another local producer Wilhelm Herbert Mittelheuser b. 21 Jun 1889 Currajong Creek, Qld d. 9 May 1947 Gin Gin. Wilhelm is the son of Paul Detlof Jacob MITTELHEUSER and Anna Margarethe BOCK. Other branches of the Kapernick family to settle in the Bundaberg area include: Anna Maria Wilhelmine Kapernick b. 20 Dec 1895 Qld d. 18 Mar 1975 Gin Gin Qld who married Franz August ZILLMANN b. 27 Dec 1896 Hatton Vale, Qld d. 11 Apr 1941 Bundaberg, Qld and Voela Elsie Kapernick b. 4 Pct 1900 Hatton Vale, Qld d. 14 Dec 1979 Bundaberg, Qld who married Hermann Friedrich ZILLMANN b. 9 Dec 1901 Qld d. 14 Dec 1979 Bundaberg, Qld. Anna and Voela nee Kapernick are both daughters of Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Kapernick and Emilie Zimitat, while the husbands are both sons of Ernst Carl August ZILLMANN and Margaretta Friedericke Maria nee SCHLOSS. Both Zillmann families settled in the Wallaville area and Zillmann Rd in Wallaville-Gin Gin is named after Hermann ZILLMANN and his wife Voela nee KAPERNICK. Descendants of the ZILLMANN marry into other families associated with Bundaberg and district in the early days such as HEATHWOOD, CHAMPNEY, PAILTHORPE, REHBEIN, HEIDKE, SCOULLER, NOYE, MAUGHAN, SLADE, DUDGEN, DANIEL, Next, we have the Byrne family. Elsie Lilly Kapernick b. 23 Oct 1892 Tallegalla Qld d. 31 Jul 1984 Bundaberg married Stephen John Edward "Eddie" Byrne b. 4 Feb 1897 Bundaberg, Qld d. 28 Jun 1964 Qld Bundaberg, Qld. Elsie was the daughter of Wilhelm Friedrich Kapernick and Hermine nee Schmidt, while Eddie was the son of Stephen Byrne and Mary Ann Hallissy. Eddie was a well known and successful building contractor in the Bundaberg district, building his business up during the hardship of the Great Depression with Elsie helping. Elsie miscarried a couple of times but the only ever had one child. Finally we have the WAGNER family. Edna Lillian Kleve b. 28 Jun 1908 Kingaroy, Qld d. 6 Jun 1995 Bundaberg married Francis Paul Ludwig WAGNER b. 12 Sept 1909 Kunioon, Kingaroy, Qld d. 25 Jan 1974 Redcliffe, Qld. The Wagner family also made their home in the Bundaberg District. If anyone has any further information relating to the history these families, particularly as related to the Bundaberg area please respond. 1. [SEQ-Germans] KAPERNICK family and Connection with Bundaberg- Associated names ZILLMANN, ZIMITAT, WAGNER, MITTELHEUSER, STOLLZNOW, LEHANE, BYRNE plus many more
    2. Chris Schmidt
    3. Hi I am putting together an article on the relationship of the Kapernick family to the Bundaberg region and its history. Regards Chris
