Hi Bev, I had a look at the Digger Cd and found that Carl Friedrich Schulz (NOTE - no "T"), died on 24 May 1885 with parents Christoph Schulz and Regina Kuhl, are they the same Carl Schulz? Bye for now Jim
Re Schultz: Thanks to Barry Schultz for letting us know of his family which will help my records of Darling downs cemeteries. I have the following information: a. Carl Friedrich SCHULTZ is buried in Cabarlah cemetery near August SCHULTZ who died 11 November 1888 aged 30 years. August is not mentioned in Cabarlah's burial register but is a memorial inscription record. b. Eileen May SCHULTZ b. 9 Feb 1915 died either 21 Aug 1915 or 19 Jul 1915 (conflicting records from two different sources)and is buried in Evergreen. She is a daughter of Heironymous SCHULTZ and Sophia Maria MANTEIT (in my part of the Downs, this is pronounced MONTY) who is variously called MONTEY or MANTEY as well as MANTEIT. c. Eileen SCHULTZ had at least three brothers, Vincent Ernest b. 29 Jul 1917, Bernard Paul b. 4 Oct 1911 and MARTIN who died on 14 Feb 1926. I can find no birth record for him so I don't know his age. Martin SCHULTZ is buried in Evergreen. His parents on the Qld BDMs are listed as Heironymous SCHULTZ and Sophia Maria MANTEIT. He does not have a headstone and neither does Eileen. I have been unable to match this bloke to the Digger Index and was wondering if anyone else has him in their tree. I need to know what family grouping of SCHULTZ'S he belongs to. Also, has anyone got an index other than the Diggers that may throw some light on who he may be. For instance a shipping entry with a wife perhaps and family. Hi Bev, Any transcription may be missing data and unfortunately though the Qld CD is very good, it does contain errors etc. It always pays to check the fiche for entries missed from the CD. (Same with other states). We are compiling a list for the registry. I suggest you either contact the registry yourself, or give me the details to add to the list. Cheers Marionne
Hello Keith, I have an Auguste Louise Ernestine DESJARDINES married to Charles William SCHMIDT on 24 Jul 1913. I have August Carl Gottleib SPANN born about 1863 in Ipswich married 15 Dec 1887 to Auguste Albertine Wilhelmina SCHMIDT. I have William ZAHNOW born about 1867 in Ipswich married to Anna Bertha SCHMIDT but have no marriage date for these people. these SCHMIDT's are all descendants of WILHELM or Vilhelm SCHMIDT who hails from Pinnow in Pommern and he married into the LOFF family from Kasekow or Casekow which is not far from Pinnow and Hohenselchow. They are then ultimately connected to my TROST family from Hohenselchow. All these small towns/villages are about 5km apart and all are/were in Kreis RANDOW now Kreis Angemunde. Hope this helps........... cheers, Beverly. p.s. there are variations in the name spellings I am sure but the spellings of the names you give are close enough to be the same family. It makes me wish for the thousandth time that there was a standardisation in name spellings......... Life on Earth is Expensive, but at least you get a free trip around the sun....... Hiya, I was wondering if there was anyone in Queensland that might have a secondhand microfiche reader for sale or knows where i can buy one from. I live in Emerald Queensland and am finding it hard to find one to buy. Thanks. Denise

This reply is for Bev. Edmonds, I have a Friedrich Martin SCHULTZ buried in Evergreen Cemetery. He is my second Great Grandfather. He died 26 July 1903. The Martin Schultz that you found in Evergreen buried in 1926, does it give his age? Somewhere along the line my family and that of Barry SCHULTZ connect. Please keep in mind that there are many SCHULTZ families in SEQld - but then I am sure you knew that and I can tell you that I am just as confused about them as the rest of the people researching this name. cheers, Beverly Markham. Hello Daph and those who are following us How many times have I said these BEETHAMs will get me hung, drawn and quartered one day? If Mabel Kate BEETHAM hadn't married John Jacob "Jake" ALTHAUS, I wouldn't be in this mess!! Okay, seeing as your 2 ancestor HEINERs married into the ALTHAUS clan, I bow to your advice, data is altered - and am jolly grateful too!! I have a printout here, but it doesn't show either the dates I had nor those Daph has given me, so they have been given by another party (a Beetham?). She could still be alive as far as my records go! The other Anna Elizabeth ALTHAUS b 01.10.1890 d 15.04.1909 was a sister to Jacob ALTHAUS, the spouse of Katherine Elizabeth "Kit" HEINER, and Paul Heinrich Johann ALTHAUS, the spouse of Maria Katherina HEINER. Now Daph, please don't tell me these are incorrect too, because they all come from that printout dated 13 August 2001. I can see (from that list) how you know so much about MÜLLERs too. Both Carl and Albert Gustave Hermann are on my WANTED list. Oh dear - just as well we have computers! By the way, who died in Toowoomba on 28.02.1954 and was buried in Drayton on 02.03.1954? Jiminy Creepers! Hello everyone, My ancestor, Albert Schafferius, sailed from Plymouth on the 'Silver Eagle' on 10th Feb 1880. I have the book from Maryborough Family Heritage Institute that gives information about the journey. I now want to try to find out about Albert's trip from Germany to Plymouth - he was one of only seven full paying passengers, the rest being Assisted, Free, Free Nominated and Remittance. Can anyone give me any advice about where to start looking for the ship that probably took him to Plymouth. His mother and two younger siblings had already migrated to SE-Qld three years earlier on the 'Charles Dickens'. Albert was a young man, already having left home, who worked for a landlord and had an accident that robbed him of the use of one arm. He came from Danzig, West Prussia. Because of his damaged arm, I'm thinking he possibly wasn't eligible for an assisted passage. He perhaps had to work to be able to pay his own way to join his family. I'm not sure what the rules were. Any advice about where to find information on this, or assistance from others' similar experiences in researching their ancestors in similar circumstances will be much appreciated. hi, I have in my family an un-named and unregistered baby, which I know existed because I was told about it, and I found the death registration papers (amongst private family papers) which were all signed but never lodged at the registry office. I have also found records at the cemetary and even visited the grave, yet the Registry of BDM told me that there were no records of birth or death to be found. And this is as recent as 1955. So, why the papers were not lodged is anybody's guess, but I was told that apparently at that time they didn't have to. regards, Linda
Hello again, Sorry, should have posted this with the other request. At the Evergreen Cemetry there is a Martin SCHULTZ grave No 104, year 1926. Does anyone lay claim to this bloke, also need to know which family grouping he belongs to as well. And what does the following mean. August C. SCHULTZ/Stabb Den 11 ten Nov. 1888/ zu Highfields im Alter?/ non 30 jahben. And one final question, are all the BDM's for Queensland on these indexes as I notice a few of mine are missing between the dates 1829-1889. Cheers Bev

Leave your knuckles alone Mike! Hope to get back to you in a week or so. In the meantime, have a little look a Daph Heiner's message of 17 Nov. She does her homework, so you can type that bit in! Linda, your experience is not uncommon but I am glad that you posted to the list so that others can gain courage to search out the un named children and have them put in their family units. cheers, Beverly.
