Hello list, I found a reference that there should be the name Baddow in Queensland or Boddow should be es. Ist is bekannt to somebody over it a little? I found here raus which it already appeared my name Woddow as Boddow and Goddow but the origin was Woddow. Now would interest me it from where comes the family Baddow or Boddow? Yours sincerely Peter Woddow
Hi Everyone I have used the words "CD for Qld BDM" on many occasions and I always seem to get the same question from different folks - What is 'CD for Qld BDM'? 'The Queensland Pioneer Index 1829-1889' is a CD of Qld Births, Deaths and marriages. an update on the mircofische. The next CD will be released in the next 12 months. It covers births, deaths and marriages in Qld until 1889 (maybe some missing but most are there). The details are the same as on the microfische but easier to search as will give all NAME within the CD. Search by surname, given name, event, father's name, mother's name, (or for marriages - spouse' surname and given name), date or reference number. * is a wild card and represent any letter or group of letters. It was released through: Macbeth Genealogical Services Pty Ltd and they can be contacted via one of the following means: Email: jephcott@macbeth.com.au World Wide Web: http://www.macbeth.com.au/ Post: PO Box 136 HAMPTON VIC 3188 Australia OR Inquiries should be addressed to: The Registrar-General, Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, 501 Ann Street, Brisbane, Qld. (PO Box 188 Brisbane Albert Street Qld. 4002). Hope they can help - or check out their website for further details. I think in future I had better refer to it as 'The Queensland Pioneer Index 1829-1889' CD. Hope this answers all those recent queries. Hi All I keep weaving my basket and now it's absolutely chock-a-block with IRISH/GERMAN people! Those of you on both Lists will get it twice, sorry. A change of pace do you say?? How do you think I feel when all of those you-beaut bits of stuff about the GEISSMANNs kept flowing in a couple of years back, and I kept saying "GIESEMANN NOT GEISSMANN"? So then, I have Mary Jane KERLIN, second daughter of James KERLIN and Mary Jane BELL, and sister to Grandfather William John (yikes!), marrying Gustav Theodor Emanuel REINHOLD and one of his sisters BERTHA married Carl Wilhelm GEISSMANN and one of their children was Bernard Reinhold GEISSMANN who was a VIP around where the HARRISONs were - near Beaudesert! Let this be a lesson to all - if you receive a fax of 17 pages, don't 'save it for later' and then try to record it a couple of years later. That printing has a bad habit of fading, and eyeballs end up on sticks!! I also have photocopies of several draft pages of an unprinted book written about that area by John F Stevens and Alex Harrison (our and hundreds of others' Harrisons) in February 1962. There are brief mentions of many of the families on these pages - Cameron, Barnett, Geissmann, Tucker, Siganto, Holme, Henderson, Kidd, Jenyns, Muir, Colvin, Beetham, Morgan, Smith, Wilson, Hinchcliffe, Drynan, Duncan, Shaw, Ryan, Kirks, Carter, Washington, Gill, Irving, Seymour, Pownall (Annie Pownall married Alex Harrison and the Kidds also married into the Harrison family). There are more and most are only given a couple of words up to maybe a sentence or two. I find this part interesting "The first settlers were avout twenty Irish families, most upon the river round what is now Waterford. These were the folk who arrived on the Irish migration ships, "Erin-go-brach" (sic), "Prince Consort", "City of Brisbane", and others, and who later on, moved to the rich vine scrub lands of the Logan and Albert rivers. The sawmiller, John Ryan, was one who arrived with his wife on "Prince Consort", a fellow passenger with William Walsh. Their place at Waterford was taken by about twenty German families, ex "Susannah Godefrey" (sic) in 1864." Maybe I can help somebody with a 'little bit of flesh' for their skeletons, but it won't be too much. Upon examining a will and related documents we have for John Klinge of Toowoomba we found a couple of documents that may help other researchers. An affidivat by Friedrich Wilhelm Burghardt stating he prepared the will for John Klinge 3 affidavits by John George Zimerle (Executor of the will) An affidivat by Henry Mengel (Witness to the will). Hello All I sent something like this a few days ago, but seeing as no one answered it or my further request for acknowledgment of receipt, I guess all of those messages sent during the GO-SLOW on this machine are still in Cyber Space!! Let all be WARNED - don't download a Printer Driver for a Printer not listed on your new computer!! (Brands not named to protect the innocent - still got my sense of humour!) A couple or so weeks ago I asked if anyone knew about Waterford/Mt Gravatt family books but no one replied. I can't see why we have so many in the Valley/Boonah/Tamborine areas and only one "Bethania the early years" in the Logan area. "REGISTER OF PUBLICANS" Apart from a few microfiche at our local library, I would like to find further details if possible. Can anyone tell me where - hopefully on the net - please? August GIESEMANN (David's G/Grandfather) was Licensee of Bridge Hotel, Gatton 1883/1884; Pioneer, William Street, Forest Hill 1891; Exchange Hotel, Laidley 1893/1895. Moses KERLIN (David's paternal Grandfather's twin brother) had the Waterford Hotel, Logan Valley in the early 1900s - haven't followed this one up yet. AND there is still this terrible space in the 1880s when young Henry BADGE (Father - Labourer) and three of the GIESEMANN children (father August - Storekeeper) went to Mt Gravatt State School. I would be most grateful for any advice or assistance. Dear Listers I wonder if anyone out there is researching this family and can confirm that this Catherine KUDER is the daughter of Christian KUDER and Mary Ann HINCHY as I believe. Hi Don Welcome to the group. We might have some families in common. Lots of people started in Bethania & ended up on the Downs. I use Family Tree Maker & PAF5 (free from http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp ). Paf5 allows many combinations of partial gedcoms to be extracted...only limited by the imagination. With FTM, I create a new file then 'IMPORT' selected bits from the main file to create partial gedcoms. (the Bethania file is also in the order of 12,000 souls). Most programs can detect duplications if they are identical, otherwise it's a bit of a plod through the indexes. Please visit our website below. Collecting interconnected genealogies can be very rewarding and habit forming. (Don't ask me about the computer bits, my brother-in-law in Amsterdam does all that.) One thing I have had to learn is to limit the persons appearing on the internet to those born 70-80 years ago because of privacy concerns and possible exploitation by unscrupulous persons. I am seeking further information on the NAUSCHUTZ family. They primarily lived in the Jandowae and Warra districts. They married into the NOTHDURFT, GERSEKOWSKI, WOLSKI, BANNISTER, KENNEDY, HOWDAN, GRAY/GREY, BOLT, LEWIS, NYSTROM and JEITZ families. I am happy to share my information with anyone who is also interested in them. Cheers Christine Nothdurft.
Dear Don, there are a number of genealogy programs out there on the market that might help you. Which one do you use? Some people on this list use Family Tree Maker. Others use Brother's Keeper, Personal Ancestral File, Generations to mention just a few. I think that the members of the list may contact you to give you their expertise on their particular programs. cheers, Beverly.
