I recently received a Transcription of the Registration of Birth for Frederick George Koch EINAM, son of William EINAM (previously von Einem) and Adelaide nee KEMP, b. 18 Jun 1884 Maryland, NSW. (Near present-day Stanthorpe, Q.) A Mrs PEHULTZ attended the birth. (No other details provided eg. Christian name.) This woman was not related to the EINAM family, but was most likely a friend/neighbour. Am happy to provide a photocopy of this Transcription to anyone interested in the PEHULTZ line. (Would help 'place' this woman/family at Maryland c. early 1880s.) I saw the posting on the Newsgroup recently concerning enquiry re Wieland / s Family in SE Qld. I also have 16 people named Wieland mentioned in connection with my Families. None of mine also have an s on the end. However, as we know, spelling was so interchangable, that it would almost certainly be the same family. The Wieland people I am interested in ,span a time period from the oldest one who was born in Prenzlau Germany circa 1830 named Christian Wieland. He married in Franke, Prenzlau Germany to Christine Schmidt circa 1850 . They had at least 3 children I know of , one of which was Wilhelmine ( Minnie) born in Germany in 1854. She married , also in Germany to Augustus F.W. Stenzel, who was born in 1848. The other end of the scale is a Amanda Grace Wieland born in 1983, a daughter of Denis Colin Wieland and Valerie Beryl Turner. I would be interested to swap information with anyone who is also researching this family. Hi Lorraine Don't know if you have those BMDs. I think I've captured the obvious Kellys - let me know if there are any others you would like (if you don't have the CD of course). Thanks for letting me know about the other book's author and I'm looking forward to your "scratching" in your filing cabinet again! I take it you don't have Page 46 from that other book?! Do you remember its name? I could ask on the Lists if anyone might have it. There are definitely some passengers missing from the other two pages - Cusack is one (another love story for you - Bridget married a Patrick Egan). A nice fellow from down at Miami Beach has offered to look around at John Oxley too, so if we know the book he might get the missing page for me. Of course this unpublished booklet has errors which I've already discovered and maybe the Cusack family didn't travel on that ship, but even so there were 500 passengers, 480 from Ireland, and I only have 365 (thanks to your kindness). Surely there weren't so many deaths? By the way, I have recorded the marriage of Richard James KELLY and Maria Cecilia CRUICE too. Thanks for telling me about that one. Nice to know your Grandparents-in-Law!! bg I think I could cc this to the Lists without the attachments eh? Someone out there might be following our progress!! (I hope) The Flanagans are well recorded here (thanks for that too). All of the "Bernards" were called "Brian". Trevor (1st cousin) Kerlin's wife is a direct descendant of that lot, including the Drynans, Ryans, etc etc and with a few Englishmen thrown in!! Talk later and thanks again Best to you Bev

Hello Lorraine Lovely to hear from you again - thank you for your trouble! This is a B-R-O-A-D enquiry. I am trying to piece together the Irish families who were involved in the settlement of the Logan and Albert Rivers, in truth - anything from Mt Gravatt to Tamborine! Of course, we have the intermingling of our Germans too, and the Swiss - just as we have noted in the Lockyer Valley. From what I have read in a manuscript sent to me by a friend in NZ, there were some 22 families who settled south of Brisbane and who arrived on the Erin-go-bragh. I believe most of these originated in Co Offaly/Kings and in particular around Rahan and Tullamore and their arrival was the result of fervent encouragement by two RC Men of the Cloth, Quinn and Dunne. You have asked me for names Lorraine and I reply "All of Them" because I don't know where this will lead me BUT here are a few: Anthony FLANAGAN and Ann ROSNEY (the latter will not be listed as Rosney - she was his wife) and their children, James RYAN, wife and family (7), William DRYNAN, QUINN, WALSH, WARD, GRAHAM, MARTIN, CALINAN, CORCORAN, Patrick CUSACK, wife and 3 children, etc. etc. Most brought large families. Also Thomas PLUNKETT and Michael YORE who arrived by the "Fiery Star" are of interest. There are others from "Prince Consort" and so on. A number of these are ancestors of Carmel KERLIN (nee KENT) wife of first cousin Trevor KERLIN - more Queenslanders! You can see that, at this stage, I am moving in a "circular" motion - in other words, I'm going round in circles getting no where very fast. ANY HELP would be great! George HARRISON, Great Grandfather, was noted as working (and sporting) with almost all of these people in one way or another. This raises another question - this time about religion. He was a Protestant from County Armagh and he mingled with Roman Catholics from Co Offaly. Religion is not a subject that concerns me too much, but the German Lutherans mingled freely also. It's interesting. Oops, I've slipped off the subject, sorry! I will be very happy and grateful for anything you care to send. Many thanks. Hello everyone, To all who were concerned about the desecration at the Drayton & Toowoomba cemetery last October, you will be pleased to know that last Wednesday I heard on the radio, and Thursday's Chronicle reported that a 17 yr old had been in court and a 16 yr old had also been charged. I haven't seen any more, but will let you know if I do. Good news. Cheers Marionne
There was a book published about 15-20 years ago on this ship and voyage to Au. with the story of settlement. I cant remember the name of it, but I will be seeing my aunt this weekend in Brisbane (85yo) as she still has the Byrne family wooden chest that held all their possessions for the trip. The book I speak of had gone to the printers, and a photo of the chest and its story was slipped in as an extra loose page. The family settled around Boonah. I think it was just called the Erin go Bragh, a story of settlement. But I will definately find out for you if you want. I think I have a copy too, but cant lay my hand on it at the moment. Hi Everyone Sorry to do this in triplicate - some may get it three times! Does anyone have a copy of the Passenger List for the 1862 sailing of ERIN-GO-BRAGH to Moreton Bay. Please don't tell me to go to the FHC, because as most of you know, that is difficult for me. I would be most grateful if someone can help with that. For my Aussie mates - does anybody know anything about the "DUNBAR" which plied the East Coast between Melbourne and Moreton Bay. My main interest is one trip in 1862 whereupon George HARRISON and Family travelled to SEQ. I also have a little additional information to share with those researching the English BEETHAMs (Charles Benjamin in particular) and Terese/Teresa RYAN, his Irish bride from Co Offaly. Cheers Bev
You could try the Lutheran Cemetery at Lowood. The fellow who looks after that cemetery, digs the graves, and keeps a register of all burials, is very helpful and knowledgeable. Sorry I don't have his number, but I'm sure if you were to ring the local council for the area they would be able to help you. Hi Can SKS please help me. Today I went to these cemetaries hoping to find these names TRONC & OSTERODE. The cemetaries I went to were Minden Baptise, Minden Lutheren & Marburg Lutheren only to find that there was no-one of these names buried there. I am looking for the burial of Louis & Emma TRONC & their daughter Janette Magdelene TRONC & any of the OSTERODE family with the parents being Carl or Caler & his wife Amelia OSTERODE. I was hoping they were all in the Marburg area as I was told that Jannette Magdelene TRONC went to the Marburg school. Does anyone have other cemetaries around that area they could look-up these names for me please. Regards Jacqui
