    1. Need help visiting GERMANY to find information.
    2. Lorrraine Rowe
    3. Dear Listers, I will be passing through Munich in 2 months time. I will have one and a half days there. Would anyone on the list know where I could find records for Coburg, Bavaria, and how would I go about accessing information. The only information I have tracing back to Germany, my Grt. Grt. Grandfather James SCHMIDT was born in Coburg, Bavaria about 1820. I have his Marriage Certificate, N.S.W. and Death Certificate here in Qld. Neither of them show his parents or the ship he came out here on, or how long he had been in Australia. Have hit a brick wall. I would appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks Lorraine.

    2. Pat Walters
    3. I am looking for info. about my great grandmother Fredericka Bates nee Henricks who was born at Warwarort Germany . I have their marriage certificate and her mother was Ann Walker and father Claus Henricks. She was 23 when she married in 1869 at Maryborough Qld. She came from a big family so perhaps there are others out there also looking for the Henricks name. Pat Walters.

    3. Hi The fact that the e-mail with the virus attached had Michelle's name on it as sender doesn't mean it came from her computer. In fact it probably didn't. The virus takes subject headers and senders' names from e-mails sitting in the INBOX of the infected machine (could be anyone who receives e-mails from the list and doesn't have up-to-date virus protection) and mixes them up and sends out the message again with itself attached to the message. Please don't blame the person whose name is on the e-mail message. It's probably not their fault. They are most probably not the one who doesn't have up-to-date virus protection. 3. Hello Mike Richards phoned last evening and asked me to send a message on his behalf to those who may be expecting responses from him. His system has been infected and his Norton AV protection is corrupted. He has not been able to perform a system scan for at least a couple of days. He is working this weekend, but hopes to be up and running again early next week. After some of the responses I received yesterday (some were lovely btw), my first reaction was "No way - I'm not talking to them about this again", but he is a good friend and a very distant rellie, so there you have it!! 1. Passenger Lists - Earl Dalhousie arrived 3 Feb 1881
    2. Kerry Muller
    3. Hi All, Would someone be able to tell me if the passenger lists for the Earl Dalhousie which arrived 3/2/1881 is available anywhere on-line. If not, what is the easiest way to obtain information. I know one line of my family came out on this ship, but I want to have a look at who the other passengers were, as I have a feeling that another family I know little about may have come on the ship. TIA Kerry Muller Melbourne

    3. Hi All We are all having heaps of trouble, aren't we?! Bugbear is using very recent messages now and together with the Spam messages (precisely 25 of those this morning) which hit us every weekend, life on the net is getting to be a pain. I used Norton for some time until this machine decided it was not compatible, so I know what their virus messages are like. The first one frightened the dickens out of me with all that clanging and flashing stuff! Grisoft lets the virus come in, but woe betide you if you try to open a "baddie"! The REASON for this mail -- I tried to explain during the week, but I'm hopeless at that explaining business. For the many of you (Outlook Express) who did not know what I was on about - that screen is called the Preview Pane and the piece I was trying to describe "in the middle" is called the Preview Pane Header. It is on this that you will see the Paper Clip Icon on the right hand side and SO FAR - although the pest can hide the fact there is an attachment by not allowing it to show in the "top bit" (now what the heck is THAT called?) - it still shows on that P/P Header. If you don't have that showing and would feel even safer being able to see this - go to VIEW, LAYOUT, and select SHOW PREVIEW PANE HEADER. List Owners - I beg your indulgence. Our newbies may be grateful. Bev

    1. Heussler, etc
    2. Mr Stephen Bradford
    3. Hi all, Has anyone stumbled across a list prepared by Heussler showing the destination of his immigrants? Any clues as to how to search for destination of migrants arriving in 1864 and 1865? My question concerns what happened to them from the time of arrival until 1867. a.. The 1865 arrivals were on the "Peter Godeffroy" and the names I'm searching for are von Senden, Shroder, Holtorf and Kuskopf. b.. The 1864 arrival was Thomas August von Senden and he arrived on the "La Rochelle" in Sep. Thanks to all who responded to my earlier query about kanakas. Fay

    1. RE: virus warning from admin
    2. Tom & Lorrae Johnson
    3. Judy It is said that it can not come from Rootsweb itself due to the restrictions on attachments. The visus does have an executable attachment. A list member was infected, and the virus then sent emails to people in that address book, including people from other lists, looking like they came from the infected member. From there, it is activitated by people without anti-virus software, and sent again and so on causing your inbox to be filled with junk.... Take care all Lorrae -----Original Message----- From: Judy Hall [mailto:judo@hypermax.net.au] Sent: Tuesday, 1 October 2002 10:44 PM To: AUS-QLD-SE-Germans-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: virus warning from admin Lorrae I've had heaps of emails sent to me today with part of the message snipped off. They too have come from Rootsweb lists I don't subscribe to - TAS, AYR, CD Books, GF etc. They arrive in my Inbox with the list name prefix at the beginning of the subject line. Is it an error with Rootsweb, as I've seen mention of an inundation on other lists, or is it that a virus has taken the subject header and added itself to it? The messages I got didn't have attachments, but that could be because I have Zone Alarm installed, as well as McAfee.
