My thought was to purchase the cert. to be sure. As far as we know he remained a bachelor and from the extra postings of the Henry + Rebecca union it looks as though the Lutwyche Ludwig is spoken for. Our Ludwig, "Where he went nobody knows!" Jenny Henry MEYER and Rebecca PEARSON had a number of children born Queensland. One of these children was Ludwig William MEYER born 30 Sept 1868 in Brisbane. This person is very likely the Ludwig William MEYER buried at Lutwyche aged 88 years 16 Aug 1957. There are Meyer's in QLD with Ludwig in the christian name. This is a death but there are many in the births and marriages section. 1914/C003471 Meyer Heinrick Ludwig Louis Ludwig Henry Meyer Johanna Wyris Regards, Kerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jenny Myers" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 11:25 PM Subject: [SEQ-GERMANS] MEYER - Lutwyche Cemetery > Having searched NSW deaths for Ludwig MEYER b 1858 Forcett Sorell Tasmania > without success, I have found a Ludwig buried in Lutwyche Cemetery. > > If this is the son of Henry (Charles Henry Ludwig) MEYER/MYERS, my > estimation of age if he died 1957 would have been closer to 98 yrs of age > not 88. > > The last known abode in NSW was Little Plain nr Inverell where he > inherited > portion of his father's property in 1900. > Is there anyone on the list who can verify any details of this Ludwig or > would have him in their family line. > > Lutwyche Cemetery > Meyer Ludwig William M 16/08/1957 88 years A lookup of the Qld death indexes should tell you the parents of this man, which should resolve the matter one way or the other. If the parents are not listed in the index (which can happen if the informant didn't know), I would suggest looking for a funeral notice in the Brisbane Courier-Mail in the hope of finding some information about the man. NB If it is your man, it's still worth looking for the funeral notice as it may tell you about his wife, children, etc. Kerry
Having searched NSW deaths for Ludwig MEYER b 1858 Forcett Sorell Tasmania without success, I have found a Ludwig buried in Lutwyche Cemetery. If this is the son of Henry (Charles Henry Ludwig) MEYER/MYERS, my estimation of age if he died 1957 would have been closer to 98 yrs of age not 88. The last known abode in NSW was Little Plain nr Inverell where he inherited portion of his father's property in 1900. Ludwig was not given any mention in the estate of his brother Frederick MYERS (bachelor) d 1940 Little Plain NSW. Ludwig MEYER/MYERS mother Johanna Henrietta Wilhelmina MEYER (HAHN) d 1865 Rosewood Station bur Laidley. Is there anyone on the list who can verify any details of this Ludwig or would have him in their family line. Lutwyche Cemetery Meyer Ludwig William M 16/08/1957 88 years Many thanks for any info, Jenny

Hello Albert The mention of "Guttefrau" rang a bell: one of my ancestors, born in Brisbane 1894 referred to the ship her parents came on as the "Goddefrau" - very similar sounding to the "Guttefrau" that you mention. In my case, the correct voyage was the maiden voyage of the "Susanne Godeffroy" departed Hamburg 19 Sept 1863 arrived Moreton Bay January 1864. I have also seen the "Susanne Godeffroy" referred to as "Zanagoodafore" ! I have the Hamburg Passenger List for this particular voyage of the "Susanne Godeffroy" and there are no VOLKERs (1863-1864). However, with the word "Godeffroy" looking like it's the stumbling block, I thought it would be a good idea to look at any of the other ships of the Johann Cesar Godeffroy line. The "Peter Godeffroy" arrived Brisbane August 1865. The "Cesar Godeffroy" departed Oct 1865 and arrived Feb. 1866. There are, however, no VOLKERs on either of these voyages. The "Susanne Godeffroy" made another voyage, its second and final journey to Australia arriving Sept 1865 Moreton Bay. Again, no VOLKERs. Of course, Johann Cesar Godeffroy line had other ships without the word "Godeffroy" in the name of the ship and maybe this is what your "Guttefrau" refers to - the Godeffroy line, rather than the name of the actual ship. Heinrich VO"LKER, a saddle maker/harness maker, aged 20, arrived on the "Beausite" (of the Johann Cesar Godeffroy line) Moreton Bay Feb 1865, leaving Hamburg Oct 1864. Heinrich's town and state were Horneburg, Hanover. Di R.

Hi Jennifer, Thank you for your reply. Of course anything is possible. We have seen the original emigration list from Hamburg and the family are on that. We have what passes for the inwards list from the Qld State Archives, and the family are on it, and it differs slightly from the Hamburg List, so up until now we have taken it that they did arrive. But you have raised a good point. Hello List, Does anyone know anything on Julius and Pauline Domke and their son Ernst who emigrated from Schonlanke Posen on the Susanne Godeffroy in 1865. Julius was born circa 1834, Pauline circa 1835 and Ernst circa 1858. We have searched everywhere and cannot find a trace of them after they arrived. Noel & Del Bergman
