The recent D-Day anniversary weekend was marked in a small French town, on the Brittany coast, by remembrance commemorations of the allied airmen who lost their lives in that area. There are three crews, one Aussie one British and one Polish. I am connected to the British crew, but have been assisting the Museum at Quiberon with research into the lives of all these airmen. The Australian crew comprised four chaps from the Brisbane area. May I please use this list to post their names and I would welcome contact with any fellow lister who might be able to offer a trace on surviving family - or even been related. They are: Albert HOWARD born Bundaberg, of Queens Road Taringa a teacher, husband of Jean Colin LOWIS born Ipswich, of Lowry Street North Ipswich a labourer, son of Charles and Annie Athole MacLEOD born Bundaberg, son of William and Olive They are missing with no known grave. The other member of the crew was a Thomas HOBGEN of Toowong, buried at Quiberon, who has been successfully researched. Cheers Dave (in the wet and windy UK - and it is mid-summer) [email protected]
