Dear Rosemary, According to the Windsor & Districts' Historical Society's "Directory of Street Name Changes" (very useful booklet - use it frequently), prior to 1925 when Greater Brisbane came into effect and necessitated some name changes, there was an Alice Street in Red Hill. This is now called Glassey Street. I don't know if this was it but Red Hill is right next to Paddington and as Toni wrote, perhaps the suburb boundaries moved. After all, quite a few did. Certainly, if you look at your 1999 refidex you'll see that Glassey is close to the current Red Hill/ Paddington boundary. Hope this helps, Kathryn Brisbane > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Rosemary M Chalmers > To: [email protected] > Sent: Thursday, March 25, 2004 9:44 PM > Subject: Alice Street, West Paddington > > > Hi Listers, > > I have a marriage certificate from April 1907 which give an address as Alice Street, West Paddington. > I have a 1999 Street Directory for Brisbane but it is not listed.
