    1. info re first night arrival in 1887 and missing 1896 relative
    2. Helen A Cooper
    3. Dear List, I have been a passive member for some time and have picked up many ideas. However today I have 2 specific request. * My family, the Coopers, arrived on board the Jumna to Brisbane on Sept 18 1887. I am interested in learning about what the migrants had to do before finding out about their land grants. Did they have to be checked for diseases, was there designated places they had to stay on the first night, were they provided with assistance to reach their land allocation. My family I know went to Burpengary, but it intrigues me as to how they could do so with 7 children and belongings etc Did the newspapers of the day report ship arrivals? * Secondly another family, the Burys, arrived on 13 October 1881also arrived on board the Jumna. At this stage there was no connection between them. John and Mary Anne aBury arrived wirh daughters Mary Ann and Jean. A third daughter Mabel Agnes was born later in 1890. John was listed as a gardener and they lived at Fernberg Road ,Rosalie * On August 6th 1896 Mry Ann Bury (widow) married Alfred John Cooper. We are unable to find any death records for John Bury. Is anybody able to assist or lead me in a direction. Cheers Helen Cooper ********************************************************************** This e-mail (including all attachments) is intended solely for the named addressee/s and may contain confidential information.
