Hello Marie, I also have a relative buried in the same situation. In my case it was a young child who died soon after birth. I have been unable to find why she was not buried in the family grave but the ability to pay was not an issue. The cemetery is quite near a hospital and I suspect it was used for children who died in the hospital. If you contact Brisbane City Council they may have more detail than that shown online. I haven't contacted them for a few years but I have previously been given the funeral director's name by the BCC office at the Toowong Cemetery. The funeral records often give details of where they died, where they lived, Next of Kin, who arranged the funeral, who paid for it and details of funeral/death notices in the paper etc. I access the funeral records & indexes through the Genealogy Society of QLD Library but I guess they may be in other libraries. I think the State Library of QLD also has the indexes.
