Hi Doug, The State Library of Qld in their John Oxley section have photos of many of the old estate subdivision advertisements which include copies of the original subdivision maps. Their photo boxes are indexed under areas so I presume New Guinea Estate would be in the Toowong box. I have copies of the Auchenflower subdivisions as far as the Toowong cemetery which include the first part of Birdwood Terrace but not the part that borders the cemetery itself. These used to be accessible only by personal visits to the library but I believe it is now possible to see them on the net. See the quote below from the State Library website. http://pictureqld.slq.qld.gov.au/home The photographs in Picture Queensland depict various aspects of Queensland life, the settlement of early pioneers; the prominent people who have shaped our history; the homes and buildings constructed to the fashions we wore through the years. A collection, previously restricted to "walk in" clients, is now available to anyone who can access the internet. Images of other visual resources such as labels, postcards, original artworks and maps are also available in Picture Queensland. The library also has a good collection of old maps in their Mapping Section. Some of the old parish maps have the names of the original purchasers of the land noted on them. Sunmap Queensland, the Government mapping service at Woolloongabba also have a great collection of old maps but I think it is personal visits only, no internet access. Hope this may be of some help, Carol
