Hi Carol Thank you for your reply. Where did you find that arrival of th Ebba Brahe please? I would like to obtain the information relating to this couple. My interest in them is for an English cousin who lives in Nice, and when he was abt 18-19 in 1948 he came to Sydney to study at Sydney University, staying with relatives named Furse. He also remembers members of the Furse family visiting his family in England. But he does not know how he is connected to the family and would like to know. His grandmother was Annie Frances (nee Griffin) Russell Jones, born in Qld. abt 1863/4 (no registration for her). When she married John Russell Jones in Sydney in 1881 one of the Witnesses was Sarah Furse (Sarah Smythe/Griffin/Furse). When Patrick Griffin died in 1864 in Brisbane Sarah married Henry Furse in Brisbane, had 4 children, then moved to Sydney. There were no details of Annie Griffin's parents provided on her Marriage Certificate when she married John Russell Jones. If think that Annie was somehow related to Sarah, maybe a daughter. But on Sarah's Death certificate her son provided the information that from Sarah's marriage to Patrick Griffin there were 3 daughters, Rose 65 living, and 2 deceased and no mention of an Annie. On Sarah's Death Certificate, details provided by her son Henry, show that she was 17 when she married Patrick in Dublin, Ireland, that she spent 13 years in Qld, and 55 in NSW. As she was 85 when she died in June 1925, I have made her birth date abt 1840 in Dublin, making her abt 15 if she arrived on the Ebba Brahe - if that was her arrival. For my cousin I would like to be able to show that his connection to the Furse family was through a relationship between Annie Griffin to Patrick and Sarah Smythe Griffin when the widow Sarah married Henry Furse, but with no details of Annie's parents, either in Qld BDM or on her marriage certificate it is hard. Annie Russell-Jones moved to the US in the early 1900's following the death of her husband John - no records of her death there or here can be found. Hope this makes some sense - maybe the shipping records you mention could be of help.
