Hello Listers >From 2 NSW death certificates just received, one for Sarah SMYTHE, I found she arrived in Qld frim Ireland in abt 1857, aged abt 17. She evidently had 3 daughters, her Death Certificate of 1925 showing Rose aged 65, 2 deceased. There are no births registered in Qld for these children. Patrick died in Brisbane in 1864, 1864/B1581, and Sarah married Henry FURSE in Brisbane in 1864, 1864/B950. They had 4 children in Qld, moving to Sydney abt 1871. The children's were registered in Qld. I wonder if anyone could please point me in the right direction to find there arrival in Qld, cannot find it on the Qld Government online records. Also, there was an Annies Frances GRIFFIN born in Qld abt 1863-4, no birth registered, who is connected with this family the the FURSE connection, but I have not been able to find her birth and her marriage certificate is very scant on detail. She died in USA and her death details are lost. Any help with tracing any of the above would be greatly appreciated. I will order Patrick's Qld death certificate and Sarah and Henry's marriage certificate, but would like to know what information I am likely to find. Thanks. Cheers Joanne Wyee NSW
Hi Joanne, Queensland was still part of NSW when your lady arrived so maybe they are listed on NSW shipping records. I note there is a Patrick Griffin (aged 24) and wife listed on the ship Ebba Brahe in 1855. Was Sarah Smythe her married name or maiden name? The marriage entry of Henry Furse says he married Sarah Griffin. Where did Sarah's first marriage take place? Queensland Certificates will have the same information as NSW certificates. Carol
