    3. Hi Joanne, There is an Annie Griffin on the Qld BDMs born in 1863 to a Thomas Griffin and Marian McKenzie. Maybe Thomas Griffin was a brother of Patrick Griffin. Obviously I was wrong about the ship but it was the only Griffin I could find. If they paid their own way there will probably be no record of their arrival in Qld. Carol

    3. Hello Carol I have gone online to order the death certificate of Patrick Griffin, died 1864 and marriage certificate of Sarah Griffin and Henry Furse of 1864. I have to download the application form and complete all the information required when ordering historical certificates, plus having to obtain a letter from the next of kin, or am I missing something in the instructions. I have not ordered Qld certificates before and am used to NSW BDM ordering of historical certificates. I doubt if I will be able to order theses certificates as I am only remotely related to the people. I have downloaded an application for a death certificate and 6 pages printed out -I take it I will have to mail all of these if I can obtain permission from a family member who was related to Patrick Griffin who was born in Ireland and died in Brisbane, so I don't think there is a next of kin I can access. I am in a bit of a quandary. I do hope you can help please. 3. Hi Carol I now think that Annie was the daughter of Patrick and Sarah Smythe Griffin, and was shown on Sarah's death certificate of 1925 as one of the two females deceased - should have thought of theat earlier. Did research the other family but it was not the one. 3. Hi Carol, If your person died more than 50 years ago anyone can order the certificates for births more than 100 years ago also. Just fill in the forms... (the same forms are used for historical and for the regular entries.) you can see this info on the Queensland Births deaths and Marriages website yourself see below http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/828.htm You need to send only the two pages with the application details on them.. the other pages are for your information only.. (should you be applying for a certificate that requires you send ID.. which you dont have to) So Basically fill in the forms... put your relationship on the form.. distant cousin or whatever... and write for the purpose of family history... and you will have no problems... Just be aware that there is a bit of a wait generally for Queensland Certificates... I recommend you read those historical certificate guidlines though gives you an idea of what they require. best of luck with the research!! Sue.
