Hi Kay I can confirm the info re the railway booking office. We also used to get or renew driving licences in that building which is where the Housing Commission used to be too. I have a vague recollection of a small jewellery shop in that building, facing Adelaide St, on the ground floor, right near to Anzac Square. Maybe this will jog someone else's memory for more info. At that time there were a lot of little shops opposite the Government buildings. I worked near there in the mid to late fifties. The Queensland Government Tourist Bureau was in the building on the corner of Adelaide and Edward Streets, just up from Anzac Square, possibly the SGIO building. I can't remember what was on the other side of the street though.
