Hi again Barbara, Further to Carol's reply about John CUMBERFORD, he was also in the Australian Army in WWII 1942-45; this is his entry from the nominal roll, which shows his birth as 15 Sep 1893, Bells Hill, Scotland: http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/veteran.asp?ServiceID=A&VeteranID=106488#summary1 Also, a search of the online database at Qld State Archives found an Alexander Cumberford FORRESTER (who I think would be a son of Jean CUMBERFORD and Andrew Scott FORRESTER). He was a senior school teacher in Qld until 1973 - the file is not accessible for 75 years from then. About the assisted immigration records - you may notice there are 2 film references. If this is the same as the 1800's records, then the first record is a brief arrival record for the immigrants on the ship; and the second is a more detailed examination a few days later. This second record usually lists the parents and where they are living (unless deceased). So if you only have minimal information on the parents in Scotland, this should at least give the county they were in in 1912. These records are probably on film at the state library as well as the archives. I can have a look on my next visit, though I don't know when that will be.
