I want to publicly thank Kerry, Jan and Sue for their incredibly quick response to my Electoral Roll query for the PHILPOT family. I got far more info than expected, including an offer for help with their grave information. I shall be in touch with you all directly once I've read through everything carefully. In the meantime - just in case a PHILPOT, VENN or WOOF relative reads this in the archives and wishes to find more on their Devon ancestors. I have all the details.: I am related to Eveline VENN whose family came from Ermington Devon and sailed over to Brisbane in 1883. Her parents were William VENN and Mary ROLLINGS and someone a while ago sent me their headstone photo from Toowong Cemetery. My search pretty much ends there except for snippets. They didn't have sons, so the VENN name ends there. It's the Philpots I've been hoping to track down. Philip Arthur PHILPOT was born in London, the son of THOMAS JAMES PHILPOT and MARY BURCH. In 1902, aged about 19, he sailed on his own to Canada. He was in Brisbane by 1912 when he married Eveline. They had two sons. Philip William and Thomas Arthur. All I have on Thomas is that he served in WW2 naming his next of kin as E. Woof! (I see that surname on Evelyn's obituary - wow - thanks!) So there it is. Once again - thanks so much -- what a great list you are! Cheers, pamela - across the pond in Bermuda
