Thanks Doug & Jan I have now filled in a few gaps in my family tree as a result of your much appreciated information. Ebenezer Robert and Ebezener Robert Ashlin are one and the same. I have another mystery that you may be able to solve. When looking at Queensland deaths on a micro fiche at my local library I came across that Ebenezer Robert and Edward George Ashlin (his brother & there parents were Ebenezer Ashlin and Matilda Maria White) had the same date and year of death. 30 March 1936. I find it hard to believe that two brothers could die naturally on the same date and year unless there was an accident or tragedy. Is there any way this could be verified. Regards Chris H.

Look in the newspapers for death/funeral notices or an article about an accident or tragedy. Unfortunately there are no Queensland newspapers for 1936 that are online, but they are on microfilm in state libraries. I checked for any reference to ashlin in 1936 in any online newspaper (as accidents or tragedies involving 2 brothers are rare enough that it might have been reported more widely) but I drew a blank. Thanks Kerry. I will be going to my local library next week and conduct a search. For any interested reader ther is an Australian Newspapers Beta website that has just come on line. The link is: http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ It is worth a look and I have found old family related articles, in time the site will be added to. There is nothing for my Ashlin querie so far on the site.
