    3. Hi Mark, I'm not sure if there was or is any requirement for bakers or any other tradesmen for that matter to be licensed but bakery shops may have been. I know that in NSW they have to be licensed with the local council, ( I owned one once and so did my grandfather). I am looking for the same info for my grandfather when he was baking in London c. 1903-1912. Good Luck. 3. Mark, The first place I would start looking is the postal directories.... they are on microfiche. Searchable by year and also city or country... also district.. brisbane.. is much easier than the other smaller districts of the time.. and certainly one would think a baker would be listed. As for records pertaining to the bakers themselves unlikely.. It would more be possible if they owned the business. in which there may be records.. or certainly a will would tell you of any business... as it would have had to be divided up. As far as I am aware there is not an industry body that goes back that far.... Regards Sue.
