Hello Jan, No, they remained in Killeshandra. Their eldest son, William Robert PHAIR did emigrate sometime prior to 1900 (mentioned in John's Will of that date). He was a Miner in WA, then came to Sydney where he married an Irish girl in 1903. They were my husband's grandparents and lived in Leichhardt, NSW, all their lives. Thanks, Margery ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug & Jan" <jst88221@bigpond.net.au> To: <aus-qld-brisbane@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 9:05 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD-BRISBANE] Roll Call- PHAIR, STEPHENS > Did they return to Brisbane there are some PHAIR's on the 1922 Electoral > Roll .. what were their Children's names > > Jan > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Margery W Phair" <m.phair@bigpond.com> > To: <aus-qld-brisbane@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 7:54 AM > Subject: [AUS-QLD-BRISBANE] Roll Call- PHAIR, STEPHENS > > >> Hello All, >> >> I am trying to trace the arrival and movements of my husband's great >> grandparents John PHAIR and Elizabeth STEPHENS. >> >> John, 26 and Elizabeth, 29 (though 1861 census indicates born 1832) were >> married on 23 January 1867 at Mr Johnson's, Valley, Brisbane. >> >> Elizabeth was born Hadley, Shropshire and I have traced her to the 1861 >> census where she was a domestic servant in the house of Thomas TILL, and >> earthenware manufacturer, in Burslem, Staffs. >> >> John came from Killeshandra, Co Cavan, Ireland, arriving Australia >> sometime before 1866 as I have the transcript of a letter he wrote to his >> mother on 3 February, from Cressbrook Station where he was working as a >> stockman.
