If any lister has acccess to Qld death records circa 1918. I have MICHAEL PATRICK DUFF, born to Patrick Duff and Susannah Irwin in 1918 said to hve died young or as an infant. His family lived on the Darling Downs near Dalby. I put this call out before but made a mess of it by not including the full information I had. Des Skelly skel25@optusnet.com.au
Hi there, Would you be thinking of Crystal Drinks? This wasn't in Second Avenue but I think it was the second street on the left after you turned off the Deagon road and headed for the first Lagoon. It was Connaught Street I think. If you were to go doorknocking down there, maybe someone will remember. What about Kaye's and Gardiners? Were they local to that area or were they further into the city? Margaret

Hello, I am trying to locate a marriage of Geo Morris and Mary Ann Paterson, supposedly married around the 1860's - their only or one child was a John who says on his m cert that he was born in Brisbane and his parents married in Brisbane. However, I have not been able to locate a m for G and Ma or a birth for John. I have also looked for other Morris births with the parents of Geo and Mary A in Qld, with no luck. I was wondering if they did not marry and did not register births of any children. (would it be possible to not register births in the late 1800's in Qld?) I was also wondering if there might be anyone who has a family of Morris that has a George and Mary Ann Paterson as parents in that timeframe? In his 20's John lived and worked in Warwick. I have searched for a death for MA Morris (supposed mother). There are a few deaths for George Morris, but as yet have not sent for d/c. Any help would be appreciated. Glenda

Hi/Hej/Hello/Hullo to my dear Friends We are moving house and will be out of action for List mail until we have re-settled. Will try to catch up via the Archives (I think?!). Thank you all for the support and assistance for - um, well - how many years? Various I guess! I will "un-sub" but will welcome private mail, as usual, and help wherever possible. Good luck and remember your cameras and shovels whenever out on your travels! Best wishes and warm regards Bev
Hi Terry, Check out the State Library site for your newspapers http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/cat/ click on State reference library and then highlight newspaper and put in Beaudesert that will give you what is available. BTW don't overlook the CM lots of my notices were put in there too. I think you will find the papers have altered over the years and been absorbed so you will need to check. Also make sure they are at Cannon Hill you may have to order in advance. The Queenslander also had some pretty good photos and I think is name indexed. Beaudesert also has a fantastic museum where you might be lucky enough to find photos on the wall. Several of mine are there with the next generation families as well. Would be worth a visit if you could make it. Mind you there are lots of books on the area for sale there like school centenaries etc where there are school photos. going way back. Will try to look in some of mine to see if the names are there. Woodhill State School Admission records in 125th anniversary book start 1873 with pupil names but photos are from later years although there are some as early as 1905. It helps of course that my gggfther donated the land for the school so I got lots on my family but many names of early settlers are there as well. My mothers generation is at another school in the area but I do not have the book at the moment. but she was born 1908 and there is a SCHOOL photo of all her family but her as she had left by then. I will keep an eye out for your names as I research as I am working on my Beaudeserts clans at the moment from various sources and will be checking notices. I wonder does any lister use the Family Historian Program who previously used the PAF program and how do they compare. I am trying to make up my mind about changing and wondered if it was a good move. No doubt there are good aspects of every program and one hopes to come up with the most effective. It could, of course, be a case that the grass appears greener in the next paddock! Des Skelly skel25@optusnet.com.au
