Hi there everyone, at the last Toowoomba DPS meeting we discussed what happened to people's ashes, where have they have been placed or scattered and in what sort of locations they rest at. eg. if the ashes are buried under a tree at home or scattered in the wind somewhere, how would others know what had happened to them. So as part of the Toowoomba DPS group we have started recording these records online at this web address www.scatteredashes.net (the site is only new as this week), so feel free to add details of your loved one's whom have had their Ashes Scattered somewhere be it in a park under a tree or in the wind. You will see the format on the site. Please feel free to forward the web address on to your friends. Tracey, There are "B" (Brisbane) and non-"B" (country) refs, and the numbering (separate for B/M/D) restarts each year. So all you can tell from the ref itself is that the marriage was early-ish in 1890 (as 000140 is a fairly low number); and in the country (as there is no "B" between the slash and the number - but "country" then includes current suburbs of Brisbane). The information Rob posted about going to Qld Justice to purchase the certificate is correct, but I want to mention that this is for certificates from 1890 (which just catches your couple). Up to and including 1889, Qld State Archives is the place: http://www.archives.qld.gov.au/research/bdm.asp I'm not sure about Justice, but if they give you all the original register details (QSA gives you a photographic copy on a special form) then you get a lot of info (as for all early Qld B/M/D). Should include ages & birthplaces of both bride and groom; names of their parents including mothers' maiden names; occupations (usually just the groom and fathers); names of witnesses. Usually very well worth getting. Cheers Steve The Scott Family wrote: >Hello, I am at an impasse with what I need to do next. With help from this listing site I received the information as above.
