Dear All, I just thought I'd like to publicly thank Martin and Sue Hawkins who copied immigration, electoral and land records from the State Archives for me. It was absolutely lovely of them and saved me an enormous amount of time I don't have and will really enhance the short history I'm writing for my family reunion. So thank-you Martin and Sue. Werona, Your reply, within a day of my posting, has taken my breath away. I want to thank you so much for your generosity, time and knowledge. And the link to some of their graves. I would never have found that on the net. Another great resource to us amateur sleuthers who have ties to Brisbane. Thanks to you in finding the VENN family and now their daughter Eveline's PHILPOT family, has broken down a brick wall. Would be great one day if any PHILPOT descendants read this and get in touch with me. a very cheery cheers - especially to you Werona, pamela ----- Original Message ----- From: "Werona Armstrong" <werona@bacchus.com.au> To: <AUS-QLD-BRISBANE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 21, 2006 6:02 PM Subject: RE: [AQ-BRISBANE] WILLIAM VENN-BRISBANE IMMIGRATION > Pamela, > > I forgot to put this one in... > > PHILPOT Evelyn Blanch Death 27/10/1933 F: William VENN M: Mary Rowlands > (1933/B022404) > > Regards > Werona > > > ==== AUS-QLD-BRISBANE Mailing List ==== > Toowoomba Dead Persons Society > www.audps.com > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. Hi Bill, I don't have marriages for after 1930, and based on her age, that's when I'm guessing she'll have married. However, there are two possible Qld births: BLADES Meryl Beatrice Mary F: William Frederick M: Annie Mulcahy 20/6/1912 ERNST Meryl Beatrice F: Sidney Walter M: Beatrice Jane WOODCOCK 8/11/1912 In the 1922 electoral roll, there is a Sydney Walter ERNST living at Clifton Back Plains. William Frederick BLADES is living at Junction Estate, polling in Warwick. Werona

Am hoping someone can help with finding this family. Most BOATWRIGHTS were from the Ipswich area and include related family names of ASH,GOODING,DOOLAN, WALKER, McFEETER, NELSON, WILSON,DENNY, ENGLAND and more. however, having said that, it is not my immediate BOATWRIGHT family but has a connection to Minnie BOATWRIGHT who came to Qld on the ship "Merkara" in 1891. In 1893 she married in Charters Towers to a Chinese named SUN KEE. Any info regarding this family would be much appreciated. TIA Evelyn

Pamela, I forgot to put this one in... PHILPOT Evelyn Blanch Death 27/10/1933 F: William VENN M: Mary Rowlands (1933/B022404) Regards Werona
Hi Pamela, To answer some of your questions... 1. ASST means that they were Assisted passengers. The blurb from the Queensland Archives basically states that passage to Australia was granted by the government, according to the needs required for different categories of labour. To be eligible they had to be unable to pay for their own passage, have not lived in Australia previously and intend to remain in Queensland. 2 & 3. Unfortunately BMD's are not available on line for Queensland - however we have lots of helpful people here :) This is what I could find...I don't have marriages past 1929, so I could not see if any of Evelyn's children married. Hi Werona, I'm really finding it difficult to trace some Queensland families and would appreciate if you, or some other lister, could further assist in providing a little information on the PATTERSON family that ties in with the McKinless people which I am still researching. John Stewart PATTERSON married Mary IRVINE and they had a son William PATTERSON in October 1893 - William later married a French girl while overseas.in WW1 When he enlisted in 1915 William stated that his father lived at Clear Bank, Clifton Queensland. I was wondering if the Federation Index had some reference to John and Mary - particularly John's earlier family history. Any further information on this family would be more than welcome. Kind regards Bill in Cairns
