I am only new to this mailing list, so I didn't see your original post. But as far as war records / dates of birth are concerned - my grandfather altered his age for both World Wars. He put his age up for WW1, and put his age down for WW2, so he would be eligible to serve. I have found his record for WW2, but can't for the life of me find his WW1 file (he changed his name too!). Could your relative have put his age down, ie, made himself younger, on his Attestation Form in WW2 so he could serve? Just a thought. He was living at Nowa Nowa, Vic, at the time and I'm assuming that the recruitment officer at Caulfield had never heard of Home Hill and just wrote down what he thought he heard. He may have known about Townsville but not its suburbs. However, that still leaves unanswered the question of his birth record. His Attestation Form shows 17th September 1914 - which conflicts with his stated age of 46 (in 1958) at the time of death at Paynesville, Vic. Hello Terry See http://www.smh.com.au/news/Queensland/Dalby/2005/02/17/1108500203281.html for information on Dalby. >From the site - Nearby, in Cunningham Street, is St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church which was consecrated in 1921. It is notable for its interesting use of different coloured bricks. Usually brick mosaic is an exercise in bad taste but, in this particular instance, it gives the building an almost byzantine feel. No - it's not dormant. There have been some problems since the Rootsweb mailing list changes. I did a quick check of the archives and the message never arrived. That said - the majority of people who help on the Brisbane list are members on the Qld list, so you'll get the same results :) Unfortunately, I don't have any information for your actual query.
