Hi Jan, Do you have either the birth certificate or the marriage certificate? There is no father listed on the birth certificate and I can see no marriage for a Laura Jane Hartwell. 1908/C11075 Hartwell Mary Ann Laura Jane Hartwell 1928/C2383 Lardner Victor Joseph Hartwell Mary Ann Laura Jane Hartwell seems to have had 2 more illegitimate children who both died young. 1912/B15837 Hartwell William - Laura Jane Hartwell ** born Queensland aged 7 months 1910/B13148 Hartwell Enid - Laura Hartwell ** born Queensland aged 9 months Victor Lardner was born in Brisbane 1900/B1162 Lardner Victor Joseph Michael Elizabeth Waine All this information is available on line but you probably need those certificates to get much further. Carol

Hi Pam I have just realised that we are distantly connected. William Albert WILLMOT & Frances Rosa Agnes SIGSTON your grt grandparents had a daughter Eliza Emma who married William Edwin Richardson who descends from my Rollason line. Have we corresponded in the past? Regards Helen

I am trying to find an old map of Jackson's Estate. I have found one on the web for Cribb Island but I don't think it includes Jackson's Estate which you turned left into when you got to Cribbie. Some lovely people helped me before to find a map for Astor Terrace but I have deleted the link, I think it was the National Library, perhaps I might find one there if anyone can help with that. I was a teenager then and remember the many trips to Cribbie and am trying to replot from memory where they lived. We have no photos and there are very few on the web. If anyone has photos particularly Jacksons Estate I would love a copy, Thanks for any help, Jenny

Hi I am researching the name Willmot the ones I am looking for descended from Willmots who lived in the Derbyshire area of the U.K Best wishes to all June
Thanks Kerry, Is it possible to send me a copy of the streets from the street directory if you have it, I know their house was right on the beach, and the last in the street & possibly the estate. I could probably find it with a map (it's only for me to reminisce). Can't remember seeing street signs anywhere. I have also read a lot about it on the net, did not realize after the government bought the houses off people, that they rented those houses back out to other short term tenants until they were ready to demolish them. Sad. Also if you google "cribb island jackson" you will turn up many stories and bits of history about the area. I found it entertaining reading even though I have no connection to that area. Using Picture Queensland http://www.pictureqld.slq.qld.gov.au/ and the search "cribb island" I found many images. Using the search "cribb island jackson" I found 3 images. It's probably worth going there and playing around with the search facility and seeing what you find. The 1955 street directory shows a little pocket of streets which would fit your description (turn left when you got to Cribbie). The street names are First St, Second St, Third St, Fourth St, Fifth St (creative, weren't they) and Reneman St. Do any of them ring a bell? Maybe if we keep asking they will finally realise that Transcription Agents are the way to go. i have used Joy Murrin for NSW transcriptions and she is very good and replies are within a couple of weeks. Pam in Brisbane On 15 Jul 2008, at 4:31 PM, randgen@fastmail.com.au wrote: Maybe it is time to agitate for introduction of Transcription Agents in Qld. These agents are in NSW and WA and offer a service at a greatly reduced cost compared to buying the full certificate. For example, NSW full transcriptions are $17, partial (up to 5 fields) $14 and 3 fields $11. Another great service is to check and verify certain information to determine that this is the relevant ancestor. This costs $8 and you can provide several types of information, eg birth place, that need to be matched before proceeding to do a full certificate. Warren
