Hi List, From where can i buy a death certificate for 1956, please? I've searched the Australian Goverment site but they only go up to 1929, any ideas please? Thankyou Sharon. ----------------------------------------- Email sent from www.virginmedia.com/email Virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software and scanned for spam
Sharon, Check out the Queensland Births Deaths and Marriages You have to print out a form and either post it or fax it through with your payment and Identification details. If you do not know the Date of death or the details you will need them in order to fill in the certificate. In which case you need to contact the registry office and they will do a search accordingly or someone on this list may have the more updated indexes though im not sure how late they go.... Below is the link to the births deaths and marriages for Queensland ONLY!! if it is for another state please advise the list accordingly as the information varies state to state. http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/16.htm you need to go down to forms and download the application form for the Historical Death Certificate which is for deaths more than 50 years ago in which case you do not need to be a relative to apply.... I hope this helps you.. Regards Sue.
Hi List, I'd like to apply for a death certificate for 1956 but the Australian sites that i have been on only go up to 1929, can anyone point me in the right direction please? Hi Folks, This extraordinary couple were the reason for the Hardgrave line in Australia. William Hargrave was born ca. 1792 in County Cork, Ireland. He married Elizabeth Smith in 1818 or 1819 and they had at least eight children, seven of whom migrated with them to Australia. One of their sons, John Hardgrave was the Mayor of Brisbane in 1869. John and his brothers and sisters made an enormous contribution to the pioneering of Queensland. Descendants are warmly invited to the first ever Family Reunion of this remarkable family on Sunday, 19th October, 2008. For further details visit the Reunion Web Site: http://elizabethandwilliamhardgravefamilybrisbaneqld.myevent.com/ Regards Janelle Schloss

Thanks very much to Kerry and Jan for the information on William Joseph LESLIE, carpenter from Sandgate. I had it wrong, Phoebe Frances was the second wife. Thanks for putting me right. This Annie Elizabeth LESLIE is a bit of a mystery. The children of William & Matilda LESLIE were:- 1) Annie Matilda LESLIE born 1892, married John Henry KENT 1914 2) Ellen Eileen LESLIE born 1895 - not sure what happened to her 3) Winifred Grace LESLIE born 1897, died 1943 (appears to have had a daughter Winifred Grace LESLIE born 1918) 4) Elsie Jean LESLIE born 1900 - don't know what happened to her 5) Hamilton W.M. LESLIE born 1905, died 1906 So I don't think Annie Elizabeth is a daughter. An Annie Elizabeth LESLIE turns up on the electoral roll also in New South Wales - 1930 - Hamilton, Newcastle, NSW Annie Elizabeth LESLIE, 1 Beresford Street, Wickham, home duties James Robert LESLIE, 1 Beresford Street, Wickham, medical practicioner 1936 - Newcastle, Newcastle, NSW Annie Elizabeth LESLIE, 91 Union Street, Newcastle, home duties Any enlightenment would be appreciated. Hi Everyone, I am researching the family of William Joseph LESLIE and his wife Matilda LAMONT who married in 1892 at Sandgate, Brisbane. Matilda died in 1917 and looking at the electoral rolls I think William Joseph LESLIE may have remarried to Annie Elizabeth surname unknown before 1919. Has anyone any information on this second marriage please? William Joseph LESLIE died 27 Oct 1945. Was this in the Brisbane area? I can't find his burial online. Thanks for any help. Regards, Linda Hansen
Hi, I came across this information by accident on the National Archives site. Might be interesting to any descendants of said families. Black and White photo deposited with Archives in 1965. Not my family unfortunately. Does anyone have any information on Thomas Hamilton Naylor? My only information is that he lived in Brisbane at least from 1885-1890 when he was married to Emily Sugden Goble. Thanks alot! Kate Jennings

The 1925 electoral roll has them at Morayland [presumably a house name], Macaulay St, Coorparoo (seaman & home duties) It looks like they married in 1920: 1920/B24478 Clark James, Souter Isabella so the children were probably born in the 1920s (after the birth indexes cut out) and probably won't be adults within the timeframe of any of the electoral rolls available online or on CD (although the due-to-be-released-this-month one for the 1940s may catch them). The National Archives have several WW2 enlistments for men and women born in Brisbane in the early 1920s who list James Clark as their next-of-kin, but there is no way of telling if it is the right James Clark without paying to get the records digitised (or viewing them at the archives). I think the best chance of finding out about the children is to trace the death of the parents (James & Isabella) or the grandparents (the parents of James & Isabella) and look for death/funeral notices.
