Hi all I've just introduced myself as the list admin. I am able to do lookups on Ancestry (world membership) and World Vital Records. I have an interest in North Qld and have a couple of Glenville Pike's books if anyone is interested in lookups from those. I also have the Police Gazette Qld 1890 if anybody wants a lookup there. I work full time so may take some time to complete lookups. I also live in Canberra and access the National Library on about a four to six weekly basis and am prepared to check information there for listers who are unable to access information otherwise. Anne
Hi List, I'm tracing Newberry & would like any info for Trevett & Tink, the daughters married in to these names? Thank you, Sharon. Doug & Jan, sorry, but I see no connection between your Gleeson's and mine. My gtgrandfather, Daniel Patrick Gleeson came to Qld from Limerick, Ireland in 1874. His parents were Daniel Gleeson and Maria O'Malley. He married Bridget Considine from Bunratty, Co Clare, Ireland. Regards, Dawn Quinlan, nee Gleeson.
My paternal g2-grandparents all had Brisbane connections: Thomas SIMS (Berkshire, returned there) & Jane Margaret OWENS (Ireland to Kedron) married in Brisbane 1865 Edward PICKERING & Hannah SANDERS from Coventry settled at Enoggera in 1862 Thomas Howard GREENHALGH (Manchester) & Jane EATON (Worcester) married in Indooroopilly in 1865 Carl Friedrich Wilhelm REINKE & Friedericke SCHUBERT from Brandenberg emigrated 1876, ending up in Toowoomba region. Lots of other connections especially through the large PICKERING and EATON clans. I'm also related to BAINBRIDGE of Pullenvale on my mother's side which is otherwise NSW & Tassie. Cheers, Steve Sims
Hello Jan, No, they remained in Killeshandra. Their eldest son, William Robert PHAIR did emigrate sometime prior to 1900 (mentioned in John's Will of that date). He was a Miner in WA, then came to Sydney where he married an Irish girl in 1903. They were my husband's grandparents and lived in Leichhardt, NSW, all their lives. Hello All, I am trying to trace the arrival and movements of my husband's great grandparents John PHAIR and Elizabeth STEPHENS. John, 26 and Elizabeth, 29 (though 1861 census indicates born 1832) were married on 23 January 1867 at Mr Johnson's, Valley, Brisbane. Elizabeth was born Hadley, Shropshire and I have traced her to the 1861 census where she was a domestic servant in the house of Thomas TILL, and earthenware manufacturer, in Burslem, Staffs. John came from Killeshandra, Co Cavan, Ireland, arriving Australia sometime before 1866 as I have the transcript of a letter he wrote to his mother on 3 February, from Cressbrook Station where he was working as a stockman. This letter gave the address as "care of Joseph Petty, Terrace Street, Brisbane". In a list of unclaimed letters published 4 July 1868, John PHAIR, Boondooma, is shown, I wonder if this is our John, though this seems a long way from Cressbrook Station? It seems that immediately after their wedding the couple left Brisbane as I have found shipping records of a Mr and Mrs PHAIR sailing on the Queen of the Colonies departing Brisbane 25 January, 1867, for London. Their first child was born in Killeshandra on 23 May 1868. Could anyone on the list suggest how I could find out more about this couple's movements. There is no record of either of them arriving in NSW. With thanks, and good wishes to all, Margery

There are a few Douglases: George who with Harriet BLOOMFIELD had Albert and Arthur BLOOMFIELD. Harriet died in England and he married her sister Emma BLOOMFIELD with whom that had Annie in 1888 after they had migrated to Brisbane. I don't see a Benjamin in my line, but thanks.
