    3. The information in that database is derived from the burial register, so it tells you nothing about whether or not there is a readable headstone. The MIs are the best indicator of the existence of a headstone. Note that the MIs list about 46,000 people, but the cemetery probably has about 3 times that number of people buried there. 3. I have one more PHILPOT for you. This relatively recent plaque in the Bribie Island Columbarium: http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/FamilyHistory/Photos/Bribie_Island_Memorial _Gardens/index.php?image=Bribie-KR-0236.JPG Click on the image to get the full-size resolution photo. Just a point to note. Bribie Island is a very popular location for retirees from all over the place. So you can't assume a long-standing connection with Bribie Island just because someone dies there. Also, if you have not already checked, there are 25 entries in the White Pages for Philpot in Queensland. So you may have some living relatives there. http://www.whitepages.com.au/wp/resSearch.do I find that WW2 service or the 1949 is the best "bridge" to make connections with the living. In the meantime - just in case a PHILPOT, VENN or WOOF relative reads this in the archives and wishes to find more on their Devon ancestors. I have all the details.: I am related to Eveline VENN whose family came from Ermington Devon and sailed over to Brisbane in 1883. Her parents were William VENN and Mary ROLLINGS and someone a while ago sent me their headstone photo from Toowong Cemetery. My search pretty much ends there except for snippets. They didn't have sons, so the VENN name ends there. It's the Philpots I've been hoping to track down. Philip Arthur PHILPOT was born in London, the son of THOMAS JAMES PHILPOT and MARY BURCH. In 1902, aged about 19, he sailed on his own to Canada. He was in Brisbane by 1912 when he married Eveline. They had two sons. Philip William and Thomas Arthur. All I have on Thomas is that he served in WW2 naming his next of kin as E. Woof! (I see that surname on Evelyn's obituary - wow - thanks!) So there it is. The link is: http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ It is worth a look and I have found old family related articles, in time the site will be added to. There is nothing for my Ashlin querie so far on the site. 3. Look in the newspapers for death/funeral notices or an article about an accident or tragedy. Unfortunately there are no Queensland newspapers for 1936 that are online, but they are on microfilm in state libraries. I checked for any reference to ashlin in 1936 in any online newspaper (as accidents or tragedies involving 2 brothers are rare enough that it might have been reported more widely) but I drew a blank. He was thrown out by my Ggrandmother as he kept on disappearing and turning up whenever he liked. I believe he went back to Queensland as he had a sister, and cousin from Kent living there in 1893. There is no death record in NSW or Queensland. He was a distiller on the canefields and resided around Cabulture when he married. Any help would be appreciated. 3. I am seeking assistance in tracing my greatgrandfather Thomas Minter. He was born 1848 in Deptford, St Nicholas Kent and came to Australia sometime in the 1860 to 1870 era. Parents were Henry Minter and Susan Barker. He married Elizabeth Jane Phillips 11th June 1872 at South Brisbane. Two children were born in Queensland and eight in NSW, the last being in 1893.
