Hi Shelley, I am interested in the name STONE. I have Elizabeth Catherine BAGNALL married to Samuel STONE in 1875, apparently his brother James was the founder of the place in Brisbane called "Stones Corner". I was given quite a bit of information on the STONE family going back to 1790. The closest I have to the name you are looking for is Eliza Grace STONE born 1885 who is the daughter of the above and I only have her birth date. Is there any other info you can give such as names, places etc. Gayle Bagnall ----- Original Message ----- From: s clarke <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2004 7:53 AM Subject: [AQ-BRISBANE] STONE/AKERSTROM marriage lookup please > apologies for crossposting > > hello listers > could svks > (some very kind soul) > please lookup a marriage for me? > i am looking for the marriage of grace ethel (or ethel grace) STONE > born in queensland > to johann birger AKERSTROM > born in sweden > some time between 1900 and 1915ish > they were living in geraldton, western australia during world war one > but i'm not sure where they were married > thanks > shelley > > > ==== AUS-QLD-BRISBANE Mailing List ==== > Toowoomba Dead Persons Society > www.audps.com > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. Dear Anthony, Could you add some first names, general times and perhaps more specific place names to those endangered surnames. :o) Thank-you, Kathryn All messages to and from this address protected and checked by Norton's. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony Hesling" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2004 3:20 AM Subject: [AQ-BRISBANE] just reposting my interests > G'day, > > I've got some very rare surnames from the (mainly) South Brisbane area... > namely: > > SMITH > HALL > > looking for relatives.... :) > > cheers, > Anthony > > > > ==== AUS-QLD-BRISBANE Mailing List ==== > Toowoomba Dead Persons Society > www.audps.com > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. Hi 'Rwloulou' and all I can't fit your dates with the Qld Pioneer Index, but here is what is there: Parents Daniel Oswald CRABTREE married 01.08.1861 Marion ABLE (no births in Queensland for either of these) Children: James Oswald 29.08.1865 died 13.08.1874 Joah Robert 08.09.1868 Henrietta Elizabeth 22.08.1871 John Sydney 20.12.1873 Penelope Ellen 30.11.1876 Daniel Oswald 22.11.1879 There were two other marriages recorded which you might hold for reference: Ann CRABTREE married 27.11.1849 James KIRKWOOD Edward CRABTREE married 18.03.1856 Emily Anne LUCK ------------------------------------- William KNIGHT married 26.11.1868 Bertha Sarah COLLINGS Children: Bertha Charlotte 02.03.1870 Edith May 07.01.1872 died 13.10.1873 Eva Amelia 19.03.1874 Bertha Emily 10.01.1876 (this puts a query on Bertha Charlotte's survival) Harriett Collings 27.07.1878 William Jull 09.12.1880 Mabel Frances 20.08.1883 Florence Rose 06.10.1886 ------------------------------------- Those are the only ones registered, as per the Index. Hi Alan Here are some births and deaths for you to consider - only the Mothers are recorded and they are all Mary BRENNAN Mary Ruddy BRENNAN born 20.03.1876 Fanny BRENNAN born 06.12.1877 died 15.12.1877 Margaret BRENNAN born 16.03.1879 Charles Stanley BRENNAN born 30.05.1880 died 12.06.1880 Frank Leopold BRENNAN born 26.06.1884 Charles BRENNAN born 13.06.1888 - and then there is this one which makes one think twice, though I doubt these are yours. It's just an example of registration variants -- William Prospere BRENNAN died 14.07.1880 Father Thomas BRENNAN Mother Mary Scott BRENNAN. Looking at other entries, I found that this little bloke was Wellmanda Prospare Patrick BRENNAN born 16.03.1877 to Thomas BRENNAN and Mary SCOTT. And so it goes on - wierd names for her SCOTT DOUYERE, SCOTT DENYERE, plain old SCOTT, SCOTT DWYERE, SCOTT BRENNAN, and for six births plus two deaths that's not bad!! But for their marriage she is registered as DONYERE, Mary Scott. I can't find anything linking the name of MAY Alan, other than the original duplication of registration. I did notice that the Registration number is the same and therefore think there was a problem with the transcription. I also think the first six are all the one family, so your Grandfather has some siblings there. Maybe your library will have more detail on microfiche? Another thought - maybe Mary was married to a BRENNAN who died and Frank could have been born after the Father's death. Maybe Mary remarried to a Mr MAY??? Lots of maybes for you! Hi I am seeking the missing HANLON families of my family in Brisbane. I am looking for the descandants of Edward and Mary Ann (DWYER) HANLON Edward was a police man born 1892 and died 1965 and James HANLON but don't know who James married. James was born 1895 and married around 1921 and lived for many years in New Farm. Regards Jacqui
Lester, thank you for the contact details for the Queensland Family History Society Inc. Great stuff - and thank you. Cheers Dave [email protected]
Sandra, thank you for the guidance on BDM dates. Ah - Rootsweb Aus Military, hadn't thought of that. School admission registers made me grin. My subject's father was a schoolmaster, and I can track various schools to contact, but have to learn to control my urges for a month, remembering that for you lucky folk in the southern hemisphere, it is school summer vacation. Drat. Cheers Dave [email protected]
Hello Listmembers (again) In 1866, my husband's Grandfather, John PHAIR wrote to his Mother in Ireland and referred to James CULTISON. He was working at Cressbrook Station at the time and possibly they were working there together. Does anyone on the List know of this gentleman? Many thanks Margery (Country NSW)
Hello Listmembers Last year I posted a message in relation to my husband's grandparents. They were John PHAIR and Elizabeth STEPHENS who married, on 23 January 1867, at Mr JOHNSON'S, Valley, Brisbane. Upon closer scrutiny of the marriage registration, the witness that I though was "Mrs I Johnson" is actually Thos. J JOHNSON. Does anyone on the List have any connection with this gentleman, or know anything about him? With thanks, Margery (Country NSW)
Last week, my father, Neville Raymond Francis Buttfield died aged 72 years. He was cremated yesterday at Mt Gravatt, Brisbane. My father was born 29/12/1931 in Brisbane and adopted 6 weeks later by Frank Jack Buttfield and Phyllis (nee Tomlinson). 2 years ago we found out that my fathers natural mother was Vera Coronation Davis who later married Joseph Pritchard. My father never found out who his natural father was. It is with regret that my efforts to find out more about his natural parents came to nothing. My father spent his life wondering who he really was and where he really belonged and I was unable to help him. His adopted parents loved him and he was their only child so my father had no family. If anyone who is tracing their trees come across the names I have mentioned, I would be grateful, if only to ease mine own need for closure. with thanks, Ann
Hi Dave. Qld BDM's are now consolidated 1829 to 1889 - 1890 to 1914 then 5 yearly after that for births to 1919 but there are other means to track those like school admission registers marriages 1939 deaths 1959 Also have you checked out the Rootsweb Aus Military site they might already have what you are looking for or be able t help you. BTW don't trust birth dates on military records. They lied !!!!!!!!! depending on how desperate to get in. Could be younger or older. Marg, thank you very much for your advice on BMD dates, and Kerry has suggested a site that may help. The service side of things has been brilliant, I even have the chap's service record on order. Real objective is to trace any remaining relations who might hold family memories and/or photos. Yes, am very familiar with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. I must say that the Awm Naa and WW2Roll sites are an object lesson to us Poms in how to have service details available on line! Cheers Dave [email protected]
Kerry, thanks for your kind advice and the website to visit. Yes I have visited the NAA (and AWM) site they certainly give us Poms an object lesson in getting individual records available on-line! Cheers Dave [email protected]

Are these details not on the Commonwealth War Graves site ?? > May I please ask about access to Queensland birth, marriage and death indexes? For births this would be 1920s These indexes only public to ? pretty sure its still 1914 , for marriages 1890-1920 and deaths 1945 onwards. Deaths go to 1955 , marriages to about 1940 something so not a problem Have you checked for info in www.ww2roll.gov.au ?? also www.awm.gov.au Bye MargM Beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia
