    3. I will check out the Death Indexes. Wills may well be a proposition. Mary's parents stayed in England, but that still does not she was excluded from any Will entitlements etc. Thanks will follow up on that line. As you say if she took off with another man and moved elsewhere out of Qld and remarried, there are two chances of finding her. -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-brisbane-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-brisbane-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jan and Bob Grant Sent: Friday, 25 April 2008 9:22 AM To: aus-qld-brisbane@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD-BRISBANE] Brisbane Post Office DirectoryandCountry Guide The National Library has Queensland Death Indexes to 1959 on microfiche. 3. Hi Kerry Thanks for that - yes those possibilities have occurred. My wife (bless her heart) reads too many murder mysteries came up with the idea that she was done away with. I have been trying through other family connections to get a clue, even interviews with elderly relatives. Some family members had no idea that she was Mary Harding Collamore (nee Harris). They were told she was Mary Elizabeth Harris, a family member, but a different person. The whole thing is quite bizarre. However, I keep looking for the answer. But I cannot say whether or not any library in the Canberra area has them to that date, although I'd be rather surprised if a family history library or LDS centre didn't have them. However, my guess is that if Mary left her husband, she may have taken up with another man and may simply have taken his name, regardless of whether her marriage was formally dissolved or not. If this is the case, it is bad news because without any clue as her new surname, it will be quite a challenge to find her. And of course she may have moved from Queensland with or without the new man. My suggestion is that you look around Mary's family (siblings, parents). Can you find out when and where they died. If so, read documents for them like wills, death notices, etc to see if they mention Mary and what they say about her, e.g. what surname do they give, is there any address/town mentioned? 3. Hi Carol That is the same information I have. The last born child to Thomas and Mary was Ellen in 1889, New Guinea Estate, Toowong (commonly known as Ritcher or Richer Street, Toowong. Family stories suggest that Mary Harding Collamore, left her husband sometime after the birth of Ellen. My Aunty mentioned that Thomas brought up the 4 daughters on his own. I have not been able to find another marriage in Qld nor a Death ie up to 1939 for Mary Harding. Other family members migrated to New Zealand, but my cousin in NZ has not been able to find any records of Mary Harding marrying again or a death. Thomas James died in 1939, so I'm speculating Mary Harding may have died sometime after. However, the Qld released indexes only go up to 1939. If she died after 1939, I would have to visit Qld Births, Deaths and Marriages. I might write to the Registrar to see if I can organize a search over a ten year period. 3. No offence taken, I have a thick hide. Ruth was partly correct. I have already checked the National Library Qld Directories but references only cover property holders and not the persons living at the properties. Prior to 1903 women do not appear on Electoral Rolls. Unfortunately Qld and many other States never undertook Census, or if they did, results were never published. I think the former. My question was fishing for other leads/ideas as the whereabouts of Mary Harding Harris has me totally baffled, especially in the absence of available records. Browsing newspapers has so far proofed unprofitable apart from giving me a headache. Never mind, I will keep searching and hoping. -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-brisbane-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-brisbane-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Hayley Marshall Sent: Thursday, 24 April 2008 10:24 AM To: aus-qld-brisbane@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD-BRISBANE] AUS-QLD-BRISBANE Digest, Vol 3, Issue 75 Wow Ruth, that was harsh. 1. [AUS-QLD-BRISBANE] Look Up Please Electoral Rolls
    2. Jenny
    3. Hi List, Would someone be able to look up the electoral rolls for me for 1903 1905 1913 (I have 1922)? I am searching for an Ellen Burke who had a child called George 1900, father of child being George Priestley. I think George had been a bit naughty (if it is our George), as it seems he was not living with his wife at that time. I am interested in addresses, occupations for all Ellen Burkes if possible, I'm investigating whether she was married later on to someone else, but I'm guessing she may have worked with George in a Music Store in Leichhardt St. Sorry for the long message, I had to explain what I'm on about. Hope someone can help, Thanks Jenny

    3. If you are talking about Newcastle in NSW, then you can search the historical BDM marriage indexes for NSW at: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=marriages However I could not see any marriage that matched the names you gave. Or are you talking about some other Newcastle?
